Reverse wire to automatically turn camera on?

I have an aftermarket Pioneer DVD receiver and have installed an audiovox backup camera on the 2011 SS convertible. The camera works when you manually pull it up on the deck, however I would like to get it to automatically bring the camera up when I put it in reverse. Pioneer says I need to wire one of the receiver wires to the reverse lead that switches polarity when placed in reverse gear. I have wired the violet/white wire from the Pioneer to the reverse wire (light green on taillight harness???) but it must not switch the polarity when you put it in reverse, because it brings up my camera all the time. This does not matter what I polarity I set the Pioneer setting to. Has anyone already figured this out on an aftermarket receiver?

Post #3 from the above thread shows you which wires to tap into for the camera to turn on when you put it in reverse. Member on this forum shared the DIY for the back up camera install. Worked great for me.
