All dealers are getting a 2LT first. There was to be a promotion called Chevrolet Open House april 1st-May 15th. All dealers were to have a Camaro for this. That has been pushed back and now the Camaro is to arrive late April/early May. This is an extra Camaro and does not go against the dealers allocation. If you are #2 and a V6 and #1 is a V8 you may get your car first. Also, the first 2LT will be for sale, maybe not like you want it though. You are in GREAT shape for an early Camaro.

V8 Models hurt the bottom line in CAFE regulations. They simply CANNOT build the cars because we want them... they are FORCED to meet this silly standard or else pay out the nose for not meeting it.

GM are a bunch of douchebags for the way they have treated us loyal customers. They should have warned that these things would happen because of CAFE, and they should have done some other things differently with this "preorder" deal and the ABL and HUD fiascos, and they deserve all the ire you guys can give them. But just remember the reason you didn't get an SS isn't by GM's CHOICE... they are forced to focus on V6 models because of CAFE. Nothing else.
Just curious, but does CAFE apply to Canadians as well ?

GM has said that they are prepared to build the V8's up to 50% of the total allocation given in the 1st 6 months. The total allocation given out was over 20,000 so that means they can produce 10,000 V8's within the 1st 6 months. If the total number of preordered V8's stay under this amount, they will be delivered before the end of the allocation. So far only 11,000 preorders have been submitted. At a 80/20 split that's 8,800 V8's, 1,200 less then what they can build before then.

Knowing this, I feel confident that if you preordered your SS, you will get it before Oct. May not be within the 1st couple months but it will arrive before Oct.

I was ready to see them (GM) walk up to the plate and knock one out of the park. Instead, we get monolithic, bureaucratic ARROGANT excrement. The fact that they have KNOWN about the percentage of V8's on order and have apparently decided to say "**** it" really, REALLY makes me wonder.

With that -- don't panic regarding the whole V8 vs V6 thing. Not yet. Last time this topic came up there was so much misinformation and misinterpretation it was dangerous. It's not like they're cancelling the car, just hang in there -- I'm sure we'll get a good reason for it in time.

I may have some insight on the reason (OshawaInsider PLEASE CHIME IN). Imagine two chassis lines running through the plant in Oshawa, one V6/ one V8. There has to be separate production lines because the chassis are not the same. Are they just supposed to shut down the V6 line to run more V8's? Shutting down the V6 line doesn't make any more V8's; it just makes less V6's... The only way to make more of one or the other is to have a third line you can switch to either...

Can you provide a source for this. I think it would be very valuable to this thread???

The push-back of production was a quality-related move. From a familiar source: They want to ensure that "this is the highest-quality launch they've ever done." It has nothing to do with the loans, or any one specific problem. Don't be so quick to think that they don't know what they're doing.

I have nothing more for you on the V8 v V6 issue besides what the dealers can provide. I will ask that before y'all get upset -- wait for the dust to settle.

What happens when a dealer pre-sold 7 of 9 allocations as SS??? How many will get their cars and how many get screwed??

Yeah the problem is what good is a Camaro SS in Wisconsin coming in October. I was going to start STORING it in October. If my car isn't here by end of June, Early July, I might as well cancel the order. Get one the next year when I don't have to pay MSRP to get it.

I think the assumption of everyone here was - they can make about 3500 cars a month, there are 10000 preorders so everyone should have theirs getting shipped out buy they end of May ish, receiving their babies by June at the latest. Pushing it back a month wouldn't have been the end of the world. Making cars that are just going to sit on a dealers lot vs. making SOLD orders is just BS.

I was talking about CAFE "constraining" 30% of the V8 pre-orders. Don't confuse people with blanket statements like the one above. I didn't just fall off the turnip truck. CAFE is the reason.

My dealer told me the date was pushed back in December, posted it and got flamed on, went back and got the email that stated it, anyways thats history, anyone know what really is the source of the delay?
