If it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

I paid $4500 for cam, complete LS3 conversion, pushrods, lifters, timing chain, chain cover, UD pulley, 180 thermo, etc. Also a 3200 converter, trans cooler, tune, and associated lubricants and fluids. A little on the higher side but the shop is one of the best LS shops in the nation. I will pay more for quality and piece of mind.

Did that $4500 price include price of all the parts and labor or just labor. I do not see why there is such a large increase in price for the ls3 conversion when your already doing a cam replacement, especially if your getting head work done at the same time. From what I can tell, most of the L99 parts come off in the process of getting the factory cam off and removing the heads. All the new parts pretty much bolt back on in place of the L99 parts that were removed.....

Why such a large increase in price??? Am I missing something with the difficulty of the conversion?

That price was all parts and labor, including tune. Compared to the other shops in my area they were the cheapest.

The cam and removing the heads to change out lifters and pushrods is a completely different job and section of the engine. Heads are not removed to swap out a cam. That is why the conversion runs so much more.

This is the email for the cam install. I added extra when I talked to him over the phone.

Hi Greg
I would be glad to set you up with an appointment for the cam install. The labor on the cam would be $600 plus fluids. A full dyno tune is $500. If you want to email me a list of components you have and what you are looking to purchase I can work you up an itemized quote. Right now our schedule is booked through June 25th. Let me know if you would like to set something up.

Thanks!
