Alcantara is not your grand father's suede. This material is used to keep the driver firmly placed in the seat. I am thrilled to see it in a Camaro. Let us know what your think after a visit to your nearest Cadillac store and sit in a CTS-V.

Any reservation I had about this material went right out the window as soon as I sat in a CTS-V appointed with this same material. It's a no-brainer, must have option for me now.

^^ im going to have to agree. the suede(alcantara) seats are a must for any agressive driver. they really do hold you there. my Cobalt SS seats have alcantara inserts and they doo a great job holding me in on those 100mph turns at the track. they are also good daily they dont stain and fade.
The steering wheel and shifter are also a nice addition in suede. the steering wheel is needed but the shifter should be a hurst shifter or black hurst knob.

the grill looks ok, but i think the zl1 deserves a better one. and move the Zl1 logo to the center of the grill. the steering wheel is a little boring, but that could be fixed simply by putting "CAMARO" or "ZL1" in the center instead of the bowtie. the fender gills in the back shoud be functional, or at least look functional, cuz it just looks kinda weird on this car as-is. but these are all minor, i love this car, cant wait to see it on the road!! ...passing me by...

I'm right there with you, but I'll likely opt for a MGW shifter with a black ZL1 ball. And if I want to restore the shifter back to stock in the future, the original suede knob will be in pristine condition.

...put a hotter grind cam in, current one is the LSA is too mild, too pedestrian...., will bump HP and power quickly and efficiently and still be able to hold the reciprocating mass together for warranty IMHO. I wonder what the fail safe HP range is on the LSA..but I suspect it is over 600 HP by some margin.

[QUOTE=Z4me;2827358]Ok I would like to see the following options in order of preferance.

3) I would like to have 3 new distinct colors for the LZ1 one being a blue and a differant green. (it would be nice to have a poll on this forum with actual differant shades (4) using the ZL1. The third color could be some metallic flake color that really stands out in the sunlight.

5) Functional air intakes on the back quarter panels that would just give this car a much more agressive look.

The Silver Beige from 1968 is KILLER!!! Especially with stripes and privacy glass!

GM, please add this color to lineup!! Many of us like colors that are not so LOUD........ this conveys Confident Power! I like the steering wheel just like you have done it.... WITH the Bowtie and LS1 at the bottom! Great job!

Fail safe would be 5xx, whatever Chevy rates it at. That is, after all, the purpose of validation and testing, right?

The comfort-zone probably ends somewhere up by 700. Hennessey has been doing lots of 700hp upgrades to CTS-Vs since they've come out...pretty fun stuff. And the ZL1's drivetrain is likely to be bullet-proof (unless you try to pull several railcars with it )...

That is un-American. We never leave anything alone, especially American Muscle from Motor City

I just can't believe that they're putting the same head unit for all the other Camaros into the ZL1. I've sat in a GT500 before, and compared to ford's touchscreen Sync, the ZL1 will look bad. Despite the fact that the ZL1's price is not finalized, I would never buy a car in that price range that did not have in dash nav as standard. It's 2011.

Why is there a head unit that gives only two lines of text in this car? I've been in other GM cars that have in dash nav, and they were disappointments, so I guess maybe the Camaro team felt that any upgrade would have in fact been a distraction.

grab a tom tom or iphone app,

roll down the window,
mash the pedal,
and listen to the 556 horse symphony of destruction
as you roll over GT500's down the boulevard of dreams.

If it will keep the price below the Shelby, I dont need a big screen on the dash of my American Muscle.

I think the DRLs take away from the clean look. What was wrong with using fog lights for the DRLs?
