Why are you guys given this guy such a hard time, just like us all we come here to get information from other camaro drivers, you guys are just being a bunch of bullies at this point. A joke here and there are fine, however its gone beyond the point. Also, people have lives outside of the "camaro5" forum. How about instead of putting your nonsense sarcastic remarks you actually try and give something of value. I couldn't imagine coming home to my car being blew up by my dumbass nephew. In either case brotha I hope you find out what happen with your car and it doesn't come out of your pocket.

No sympathy from me. Anyone dumb enough to let keys to a ZL1 lay around for a goober nephew to get hold while they're gone kind of deserves what they get. I can almost read the reply to this before you even type it...something to the effect of 'the keys were left with a responsible adult.'
Thus, if you left the key in "responsible" hands, then the person(s) responsible should pay for your new engine. It boils down to that, nothing more, nothing less. I don't see the issue here.

This brings back a situation that happened during my young nieve years (early 20's). When a friend and I were bar hopping and checking out the babes. On the way back from our late night festivities (mainly drinking) my friend say's why don't you let me drive your 77 trans am you seem pretty drunk. Turns out we were both to drunk to be driving but laws back then were not as strick as they are today.
Anyway he's driving my car down the highway and complaining the damn car won't go above ^*%#. I look down at what gear he was in and my cars in second gear and he is redlining the crap out of it. Next day you guessed it the car's engine was shot and needed a new engine. Couple leason's learn drinking and driving is a stupid move, and even dumber was letting a friend drive my car. That probably saved my life after I realised those two things, did some pretty crazy things in my youth, that was a wake up call.

I subscribed to this thread thinking maybe I would learn something while an engine was parked for a long time, or what someone did to drain the oil while abusing it. This thread obviously has nothing to offer now. No pics from op, or anything useful, just a bunch if whoa-is-me. If this is true, and even if the op is not concerned about cost, you don't let a teen do that without some type of restitution, it only fuels irresponsibility. You certainly don't achieve a financial status in life to afford a ZL1 without being responsible and smart with money!

I've met the OP and he is a stand up guy for sure and yes, he does have a ZL1 similar to my car. I bought his polished wheels as a second set for my car because he wanted a set of the black wheels instead and I needed a set for my track tires.
I would have spoken up earlier if I had known he was being accused of being a troll or to be telling lies about his car ownership. He has already stated that his sister will be getting the bill for repairs and she (parent) can deal with her son on retribution for his uncles car. Family matters.
