The latest Camaro production and delivery (sales) #’s were released today and the 2011 Camaro has retaken the sales lead over the 2011 Mustang with its latest sales figures, selling 6,321 Camaros to 5,570 Mustangs! May, June, and July saw higher Mustang sales numbers and Camaros, owing in part to the heavy discounts/incentives on the 2010 Mustangs being cleared off dealer lots for the 2011 model years. The Camaro has now outsold the Mustang in 12 of the last 15 months.

Here are the stats:

Delivery (sales) Stats:
Camaro August 2010 Deliveries (actual sales): 6,321
Total January 2010 - August 2010 Deliveries: 60,185

Production Stats:
Camaros Produced in August: 10,252
Total Model Year 2011 Camaros produced to date: 24,772

Compared to Competition:
Mustang sold 5,570 units in August 2010.
Challenger sold 3,283 units in August 2010.

I'm so glad to see they are beating out the competition. Poor little Challenger doesnt' stand a chance. Oh well.

love these graphs. man, the Camaro is flat-lining! but overall very steady and we're back on par with the Mustangs and looks like they have fallen sharply. Right around the time the 2011 Camaros came out, notice the sharp decrease in Mustang sales!! Challengers have a healthy curve though.

I think that might change once they get the pentastar engine to bring up the V6's performance...

I love the Challenger but, price-to-performance ratio is way skewed compared to what Camaro/Mustang is offering. The nostalgia factor just isn't enough to compete.

I'm seeing a lot of 5.0s on the dealer's lots. Thinking that Ford may have gone to high with their price point. Mustang buyers have typically bought because they are less expensive.

Agreed, but its sales stats have been trending up consistently for a while now. Good to see all 3 cars selling well.

Does anyone know the total number of 2010 Camaros produced? I think it was 128,384 plus the number built in June 2010. I know that 10719 cars were built, but I don't know how many were 2010's.

129,405 model year 2010 Camaros produced in total.

Keep in mind the Challenger is also produced in far fewer numbers than the other two.

Not arguing the performance issues, but a more fair assessment of sales of all three cars would be a Production vs. Sales ratio.

I think Mustang spiked due to the 2010 rebates & intro of the new engines hard core enthusiasts wanted to upgrade to.

Once that stuff was out of the way, the '11 looks like the '10, and I foresee Camaro giving Ford a run for the money until Mustang is really redesigned.

Even though Challenger doesn't stand a chance I see more of them than Camaro's around here. I see just about as many new body style Mustangs around here too. I wish I saw more Camaros.......

Thanks for posting this. I was just thinking about this the other day. I'm glad CAMARO is doing as well as it is. I guess the Blue Oval boys get their fill of the 5.0

It's not to be taken lightly, regardless.

I think the bottom line is the mustangs redesigned style was not radical enough. Chrysler needs to wake up they have been falling asleep in a fast moving market.

agreed, powertrain is lacking too. an outdated 5 speed and low output v6 is a hard sell for a sports car.

Well that pretty much is what we all expected. Once the fire sale on the 2010 Stangs was done, the Camaro would rise because of the new models and boom we take the lead. Funny thing is that this includes the the sales of the 2011 Stang, which coincidentally I still can't pick out on the road.

One thing that is concerning though, even if we are outselling the stangs, we are still not selling more or the same amount of cars as last couple months.
