GEICO Insurance

Got tired of all the GEICO direct mail, so I called em for a rate. GEICO was Way more for 6 months than what I am paying with State Farm and that did not include my '67 Camaro and my '78 Trans Am. Here is the breakdown:

GEICO rate first, then State Farm's rate:

2010 Chevy Equinox - $730.00 $497.00
2010 Camaro - $807.00 $397.00
2008 Suburban - $643.00 $488.00
2004 Silverado - $708.00 $405.00
2003 Silverado - (Kids) $1166.00 $708.00
1999 Z-28 - $572.00 $402.00

Same coverage, deductibles on comp with GEICO were higher which should have lowered their premium. Only incident was my wife hit a deer several months ago and I hit a wild turkey in the spring.

"15 minutes COULD save you 15% or more on your car insurance"

I guess the bolded word, is key in that slogan.

-I called them years ago, when I was switching from Progressive to someone new. USAA was the cheapest by far at the time. I have never price checked again. Geico, was the same ridiculous rate that Progressive was charging.

Screw that gecko! lol..

I've been with GEICO for 7 years on my Monte Carlo with basic coverage. I quoted the Camaro and they wanted wanted ~1100 - 6 months.

State Farm quoted me $624 with no comp deductible, 250 collision, and 50/100/50.
Took this to GEICO and they reduced it to an even 1000. Really?

Needless to say I'm now with State Farm..

I've had the opposite experience.

I am with Geico right now, and every insurance carrier I have called has been way higher.

With Geico I'm at $806 for 6 months for my 2011 Camaro 2SS/RS and my wife's 2010 VW Jetta Limited Edition.

Called State Farm - $997

Called All State - $1326

Called GMAC Insurance - $4217 !!!!

So I'll stick with Geico for right now!

Around here Geico is cheaper but so is their service.

A few years ago a friend of mine was hit by someone else. Took Geico a year and a half to fix his car and they even had the balls to deny the claim twice because his car "looked fine". You don't do $7,000 in damage and look "fine". He finally got his car fixed after he sued them to fix his car plus an extra $10k in punitive damages.

I`m sure everyone`s situation is different and i know every company looks at different things to determine their rate. Has a lot to do w/ how conservative their underwiriting is. The more conservative usually give a better rate for good drivers and older drivers but are high on the average risk and younger drivers. The Less conservative are usually higher on the older and good drivers in comparrison and lower for the average and younger driver. Thats why its always good to shop your insurance.

To my understanding though Geico and Progressive are the only 2 companies that are growing right now in this economy and everyone is looking to save a buck, so I think that says something right there. None the less I am w/ State Farm for my insurance and have been w/ them over 10 years and have my home, life insurance ect.. w/ them.. Geico was very close on the auto though when I was quoted by them about a year ago, Progressive was a decent amount higher but still not that far off. I do oplogize though to the OP if I am incorrect, but your thread seems to be a way to drum up business for your possible Insurance Agency... If not I apologize in advance.

Insurance is expensive where I live. Gieco cut it in half compared to my old insurance.

$998 (gieco) for the camaro with 100k/300k liability, $100 dollar deductable on the comprehensive, $1000 deductable on the collision. Arbella, my old company, wanted $1700 for the same. I have the lowest/best insurance step.

I'm with geico for $76 a month. I'm 27 with no record so I guess that's helping me? My room mate had a fender bender and he is with geico too and his car was sent to be fixed right away. No problems with geico in Tennessee!

I worked for Geico for years and they are with out a doubt one of the least expensive insurance companies you can go with. The reason your quote came out high could be how your insurance company listed your accidents, driving records, credit, etc.

Geiko was cheaper for me here as well. I actually saved 50% over state farm. Then state farm would not drop me when I switched, and they kept billing me until I owed $700 or something crazy like that!
