Question SS Auto w/Automatic Fuel Management-AFM

If u have the SS with the Auto shifter, I am trying to see how those with that option feel about the AFM part of it. I hate the way AFM works. I can feel and hear when it changes back to V8 operation. The engine feels like it is being lugged before it changes back to V8 mode and rattles while it is haveing to pull while engaged. Going down hill, all is well until it has to kick back to V8 mode. Even the 4 cylinders I have driven run smoother than this while car while in 4 cylinder mode.

I HATE IT!

Mine is still active, as long as warranty is in effect, but I really hate it. I wish I also wish I had a choice to have it installed or not.

Something for GM to consider in the future, and stay within gov't. regulations. It really hampers the TRUE PERFORMANCE of this beautiful resurrection of a MUSCLE CAR! Let the buyer decide, I don't let gov't. dictate what and/or how I buy things, whenever possible.

I had no choice, but I wanted the car more, but my message to the gov't who was involved in regulating this: concentrate on ending WARS AROUND THE WORLD & PRESERVE HUMAN LIFE!

The only time I like AFM is when i go on a trip and I get 29MPG. Around town it is annoying and I end up hitting the paddles to get rid of it.

I haven't driven mine enough for it to get annoying, yet. I do wish GM had installed a menu selection or a button to de-activate it if the driver wishes, much like traction control.

I also REALLY wish the LS3 was offered with the auto, that would have been my choice.

Once you start modding your L99 A6, you'll want to get the AFM deleted.

I really didn't mind the AFM when my car was stock. But once I started modding (more aggressive exhaust setup), I quickly started hating it.

I would like too see it activate at 50mph and above. Below that, it's annoying.

Your poll does not allow multiple responses. For me, I would have liked to have chosen both "Given the choice of w/AFM or w/out would choose w/out " AND "Have removed AFM and like it." However, as I could only chose one, I chose the latter because I've tuned mine out and LOVE it.

I would also have chosen: " Have or will tune it out, even if no power train Warranty."

Too many similar choices that overlap.

Above 50mph, AMF can be very annoying if you're modded. My car sounded like a VW bug everytime I barely got on the gas while cruising 60mph or so. It was an emabarrassing sound for a 400+hp Camaro.

Deleted the AFM and the car sounded like 6.2 L V8 everytimem you get on and off the gas (no matter what speed your driving).

There needs to be a simple switch to turn AFM on or off. If you want to use it on long highway trips (I wouldn't because of the weird noises) you could just turn it on.

I just dont like the AFM,i can feel it kick in.
It would be nice if GM would sell a computer "Flash" thru their performance divison eliminating it or just have it active in D and not M. Think of the money they would make cause i would buy it.

I would like GM to put a switch in like the traction control and give you the choice of when you want to use it.

The AFM should have a switch or something that you have the option to turn it off and turn it on.

I was at my dealership couple days ago and I was talking to this guy that his Camaro had this rattling problem too for over a year now. He said the dealer never figured out how to solve this rattling problem.

Is It that bad?

I've never noticed it turn on or off or any of the issues that others have experienced. When I need power I've got it and my A6 Camaro has never failed me in terms of performance/power. For me it's no big deal, so I like it.
