Cheapest Car Cover

My car cover arrived today. I took 6 king size cotton top sheets that we never use and had my neighbor sew them all together. This is my winter cover that will be going on someday soon to keep the dust to a minimum.

Total cost: A couple drinks at the bowling alley (on bowling night) in a few days.

Whatever works, I couldn't make myself pay 300.00 for a garage dust cover either. I won't lie to you, and say looks good though.

Me neither. But it is for the garage only during the winter.

I use sheets to cover all my stuff during the off seasons. Weather it be my tractor, snowmobile, snowblower, etc. Keeps the dust and dirt to a minimum.

Couldn't see spending money for something that I could make and use that I have laying around. Would rather save that money for a mod.

If it does what you need it to do and you like it, that's cool with me! I should have thought of this as well...

Lol not me. It's a perfect, "free", solution for a garage car. Who cares what it looks like.

Thank - you..........I certainly don't care what it looks like. I just want my Camaro to stay clean and dust free over the winter. In the back ground of the first photo you can see my winter ride. Let it take the salt abuse. I want to protect the Camaro as long as I can.

Funny indeed. Then you would see the snowmobile that is covered too. I spent a part of the last couple days re-arranging the garage and getting things organized so that I can tuck her away as much as possible.

The only thing I miss about Michigan winter is snowmobiling. Well that and deer hunting.

I understand. I tell myself I could do without winter, however it is not going to change and I am not going to move. So find away to live with it. Been snowmobiling for over 20 years. thus the reason for my call sign rtcat600man.

That made me laugh. A great solution. I hope your wife doesn't miss the top sheets.

Thanks, well if you have some sheets laying around then your all set, but if you need to go buy them might as well buy a cover.

Thanks, She doesn't use one, she has a blanket that she had from when she was a kid that her Aunt bought her from Frankenmuth. She loves it and wouldn't know what to do with a top sheet. I on the other hand get all of them to cover everything in the garage. Now that includes my Camaro.
I could say cover or sway bars. Not a hard choice for me.

The first thing I noticed were the AC licence plates, haha.

You have good taste. (I'm orange in the summer and green in the winter too)

Too funny, just read this to my wife and she busted up laughing. she gives me all our tops sheets since we never use them. So I was collecting them in the garage for years to cover all my off season toys and stuff.

You know, there's a reason that there are a slew of covers on the market and that they range drastically in price. The number one reason for me is the "breathability" of the cover. If it doesn't breath, there's no telling what you may find under that cover at the end of the winter. Some weird bacteria can grow on the car in the right conditions and that stuff eats straight through the paint. A quality dust cover can be as cheap as $140. If my car was worth as much as a 1-3 year old Camaro, I wouldn't play cheap with what I covered it with. But then people know how anal I am about my paint.

I have a very dusty garage and have covered my car with sheets inbetween the process of detailing the camaro. For the winter I do have a car cover. I used the cover up in Canada this past summer to protect the car after I washed it. It rained that night, and the cover repelled the rain. I put the car away today for the winter and it's wearing the cover (it's been washed since). Sheets are washed and folded for the next detail session, whenever that may be.

I did that for years....Bought a 24 dollar cover @ Walmart this year. big enuff to fit a 68 El Dorado, plenty of room for the Camaro.
My friends say, " it cant be a Camaro under there, where are the cement blocks!!!" long running hillbillie joke here!!!
i use the cover to cover the snowmobiles in the summer too.
Ski-donkeys here...hoping we get some snow soon
