Dont turn off that stability unless you are prepared for the car to go sideways FAST.
Even the six will get sideways in dry weather pretty easily without it on, in bad weather or rain it goes crazy! |

Don't just dump the clutch at 4500 rpm, you will break something! You also have to stab the gas hard and fast in comP Mode for it to stop at 4500, be carefull and read and understand the owners manual.

love. my. car.

If you're not familiar with the car, I'd say stick with TC off with ST on or competitive mode only. There's almost no need to turn ST off unless you are a very experienced driver. You'll be glad you left it on the time you come around a curve and you gave it too much throttle.

Here is my recommendation on how to get used to the car.
I am used to my 66 Olds with no computer assistance but I decided to be careful with my SS. It's my daily driver and I decided to drive it normal with all the nannies on to get used to the car. Then started using it with TC off for another week, (1 button push) to get used to what it takes to make the wheels spin. Then Competitive mode while letting her loose on the freeway for another week. Then finally started using it was nannies off in casual driving to see how she handled without them. I'll be taking her out to the track soon so I can see what my baby is like when she likes the be MEAN!

That said...it's not a good idea to dump it when you're NOT in competitive mode. |

hopefully i don't get beat up to bad for this question...but does the automatic have this seven second setting as well? i'm sure it may have been mentioned in the thread and I apologize ahead of time if it is. my phone does a terrible job of opening up attachments or i'd read the online manual real quick.

When I hold mine down for 7 seconds both lights light up to show everything is off but the launch control is still on and doesn't let me rev it as high as it can go. Anyone know why?

To my knowledge, when you press the button once Traction Control is not off. It's more like reduced. In other words it will allow more tire spin before taking over and protecting you. Can anyone else confirm?
Regarding Lauch Control - it's not exactly ideal. Launch control launches at 4200 RPM if I remember right - and it's hard to get traction at that RPM. 3000-3500 is usually suggested by guys on here. All I got with Launch Control was a lot of smoke. But I'm no pro. Not even close. I've seen a video of a guy over in the drag part of the forum who launches with everything off at 4000 no problem. It's amazing to watch. But he's had years of experience. |
