Video of my 2011 2SS/RS M6 2nd Gear Grind

My car has around 1100 miles on it and has done this since I picked the car up at 300 miles. Going through the channels to get it fixed. Have talked to the dealership, was talking with a GM Service Rep, and just this morning my info was forwarded to my District Rep... When I took it to the dealership, the tech just parked the car in the bay for about 30 minutes with no test drive. When I asked him about it, he said they didn't do a test drive, but the service manager would do research on the problem. This morning the service rep called me and said the service manager told him they found no problem and since there was no TSB on the issue, the dealership wasn't going to do anything. But said to bring it in immediately if I have another problem. I asked the service rep (Mel) if I should drive up there right then since it's a constant problem! I also let him know that they did not do a test drive or even look for the problem. He then decided to escalate it to the regional level. Hopefully I get some resolution soon... Anyways, enjoy the video!
UPDATE: Called the dealership and the service manager apologized for the misunderstanding about the test drive. They are taking it back in first thing Monday morning to check it out. I'm dropping it off Sunday evening so it'll be nice and cold when they do the test drive. I also just got a call from a District Representative. She'll be calling me back Tuesday morning to see how everything went at the dealership. Wish me luck!

Thanks! I'm hoping in the end I'll get a replacement tranny with the new compressed carbon synchros rather than the bronze sintered ones. Or at least the parts replaced, but I'm a little concerned about having a random GM service tech tearing apart and rebuilding my transmission...

I have the same problem with my second gear. I also have the same fear having a mechanic take apart the tranny, here in my small town they have onlly sold five m6 sence the new camaro came out.

Do you have to bang it into gear like that? Will it not go in using just normal pressure?
I have rebuilt plenty of T56s and yeah it is probably just a bad syncro.
If it won't go into gear DO NOT force it. That is a great way to trash the syncro teeth on the gear, those are not wear items.
They will more than likely just throw a new 1/2 syncro in it. No way they would replace the transmission. Don't worry about them rebuilding it, 99% of all manual transmissions are basically the same and it is pretty hard to mess up a rebuild.

No, I don't have to force it into gear, and I don't usually, but to show people that there's a problem I kind of have to. In the end, this problem will be fixed so I have no issues trashing the synchros more than they already are.

ok, I understand that but if you do it a lot you could trash the actual gear teeth also. I know it's getting fixed but no sense in adding to the pile of bad parts.

Frankly your lucky mine does it on occassion when it's cold and it's a crap shoot when it will happen. I think that's why they initially didn't want to do anything about it because they thought you had the same problem all the cars have. Your's luckily is worse and you can do it everytime.

Here's a little update:

Dropped the car off at the dealership last night. The service manager drove it this morning and didn't find a problem. I went up there and took him for a drive (of course the car was already warm) and could only barely get it to grind a couple times. He said he'd check on the problem and let me know. I thought I sensed the "blow off" vibe, so I pulled out my phone and showed him the video. His demeanor instantly changed. He asked me to email him the video and he would forward it to the GM engineers to figure out how they are going to fix it. Gave me his card, shook my hand, and assured me he'd get me taken care of. It was the first time I felt optimistic about this whole thing. I'll post updates as they come.

SAME PROBLEM and I have a attempt in their system for service and so does hundreds of others!

Apparently I will have to buy a video camera and tape everytime I goto drive the car. I am worried though that the cold weather will go away and the problem will leave as well until next winter.

Mine does the same thing, but only in 3rd gear. I trashed one whole transmission already (I'm on number 2) but it's doing it all over again... urgh!

2010 Camaro SS modified extensively. I stretched the body to make it a 4 door, but I swapped in the 3.6L DI V6 for fuel economy. Then I picked up a corvette body around the V8. I also swapped the body for a C2 Z28. (In short I traded it for three cars, a Corvette Z06r, a C2 Camaro Z28, and a Cadillac CTS Summer Performance package 3.6L DI with Aisin 6spd.)
