Weird sound when braking?
Did anybody of you encounter this; While the car is slowly moving maybe 7km/h, 5km/h NOT MORE THAN 30KM/H it makes a sound when braking! I'd describe the sound in this way, sounds like water moving! I'm guessing its the petrol to be honest. Specially while reversing. When you step up and brake there is no such sound. I only hear it when the car is moving pretty slow. To be honest i think its the petrol tank! But thats weird since there should be no sound what so ever. I don't know, I was just wondering if anybody encountered this! 2011 v6 2lt

water/clunk sound

OMG YES!!! i have been searching for someone with this problem to see what they said and a possible solution. I have not gone to the dealer yet. I have a 2011 v6 1lt, and if i am driving no more than 5 mph and apply the breaks, it sounds like a clunk or a water sound going forward... and when the car comes to a stop, its like the water/clunk sound goes back... what could this be?!?! |

Sounds to me like you're hearing gas in your tank sloshing around.

If your stereo is turned on you might not hear it. It could also depend on the fuel level in the tank (full versus 1/4 tank, etc), and it could depend on do if you are parking on level ground. Lots of things come into play. If it was a loud clunk by itself that might be different, but with the water sound you're describing I still think it's fuel in your tank moving around.

honestly, if my music is playing, ill never hear it... its usually pretty loud... and i can live with it because i usually have the music on anyway... i just dont want to assume its nothing when there could be a problem, you know? well i only bought the car 1 month ago today, so having warranty i might as well use it right? see what they can find... its only apply brakes at low speeds.... if i am driving 30mph and do a sudden stop, i dont hear the noise... so weird |

Have heard it in the Camaro but only after I stop and turn the car off. However; it's very slight and doesn't last long and if the radio is on I don't hear it at all. I do get a similar sound in my 99 GT and it is the gas/petrol in the tank. Not too concerned.

glad to hear its more of a norm than a concern... it's not all the time, but every once in a while. i'll probably swing by the dealer next time i'm in town... that's what warranty is for, right? |

I hear it when my tank is down to about 3/4 full. Try running your tank down to 1/4 full and see if you can hear it. Also, I don't seem to hear it with a full tank. I wondered what it was at first, but I am pretty sure it is the gas sloshing in the tank.

I think I know what your talking about. I heard it first day I brought it home. I only hear it in first or second gear driving below the 2k rpm band. It makes a clunking noise right when I push in the clutch. Sounds kind of like something dropping or being disengaged.

Update - so it's been a while since I have posted on this thread and I use my car as my DD. I have found that it ONLY makes the noise when my tank is 3/4 full. Everytime I have heard the slushing/clunk noise, I look at my tank level and it's 3/4. It isn't kililng me, but if no one else is having this problem, then maybe I should address it? 3/4 of a tank is when mine seems to do it also. not concerned, my other car does it too. address it by not worrying about it 'cause there's nothing to worry about.
