UPDATED: 5/2/2013
Figured i'd let you guys know how the exhaust is after 2 years of having it installed.... It Kicks Ass... I was originally worried about sound from inside the car but surprisingly it's not as bad as my first few months... UPDATED: 5/7/2011 Went to Caffeine and Octane last weekend and got a quick video of the my car on take off... I've had the exhaust over a month now and I can say if you are thinking about getting a new exhaust i HIGHLY recommend this. It was loud in the beginning but its definitely toned down inside the car. Watch this my brother took of me leaving the car show. Sound quality isn't the best but w/e... u will still get the point. There is also a TranAm right behind me u will only hear it for the last second or two but it'll give u a good comparison. I know everyone says this about their car but i have been pretty honest in this thread so far... i think this exhaust was done perfectly. It's exactly what i was trying to do. Moving the muffler as close to the H pipe as possible almost completely eliminates the rasp of a the V6. And this is coming from a super 40!! Super 40's are very free breathing mufflers so this exhaust would usually sound raspy on a V6 at higher rpm's but i can red line and keep it "tuned". This is the most muscular sounding V6 that i've heard. A guy at the car show described it perfectly... He said it sounds like a quiet GTR... A mix of a ferarri, G35, and a muscle car. It stays tuned and no rasp and still has the gargle and muscle sound. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATED: 4/13/2011 This video is from after the break in(about two weeks): I hit redline in this video... Wanted to show how it stays tuned. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It took a while but finally decided on a new exhaust. I wanted to try something new and so far its a huge success. I found one v6 camaro with super 40's and really like the loud sound, but wanted a little more tune. I also saw a few video's of people putting dual in dual out magnaflow mufflers and liked the sound but wanted some more rumble. So i put the two together and it sounds AMAZING! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3/30/2011 I bought a Flowmaster Super 40's muffler (Dual in Dual out) from Summit Racing for $95 and some extra 2.5" tubing(Nobody has done this yet, I wanted something new, and i was really interested to see how it would end up). I located the muffler where the resonators used to be. This is a good location because its not to close to the tips which helps keep down the raspy sound of the V6 at high RPM's. In order to fit the muffler here we did have to make some adjustments. The muffler is 10" body length and we only had about 11". We had to bend some heat shield and do some heat and hammer tweaking. We technically could have fit the muffler but i didn't want it hanging to low. I don't think this is a problem for one of the dual in dual out magnaflow's because its 8.5" body length. After the muffler it's just straight pipes until the tips. If anyone is thinking about doing this heres my first impression. ITS REALLY LOUD. Almost having second thoughts because its so loud. I just finished it about an hour ago so ill let you guys know in a few days how i feel but its not anywhere close to stock. It definitely sounds amazing, i think they best yet, but its also the first i have heard in person. All of us working on the car looked at eachother in awe, it is way louder than expected. The video will not do this justice(Like everyone says, and now i know what they mean) but the bass is incredible. It sounds like a mix between a ferarri, a croch rocket, and a G35/350Z. I don't know yet if its for an everyday driver but for a fun weekend car HELL YEH. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALL VIDEOS AND PHOTOS: Here's the video. I will upload more video's later on. This video is from the day after the install: This video is from after the break in(about two weeks): Here are some pics of the install... So, Let me know what you think!! ![]() ![]() http://i1214.photobucket.com/albums/..._6124292_o.jpg ![]() Before ![]() After ![]() Oh and make sure you screw the heat shield back on before you drive off!!!

Nice. Really interested to hear how it sounds. Should be a beast! Curious if you'll have rattling problems with how tightly the muffler is fit with the heat shield.

Wow, really looking forward to hearing this.
It looks like it hangs quite a bit lower than stock, which would worry me. My fiancee used to live at an apartment and the entrance was tricky for me to get in. Had to come in slowly at an angle, else the under side would drag, and that was on a stock height car. Luckily, now shes living with me lol.

Alright I took a new video just now and uploaded it on youtube for you guys. I don't have much time so i was only able to get a startup and rev... Ill get a few different ones. Here's the video:
Quote:
It does hang a little lower but we put a plank of wood accross it to see how low it is and it's not very far. I haven't had a problem with speed bumps today. Quote:
I fixed the heat shield problem i was talking about and yes the muffler is closer with hardly any clearance BUT ZERO rattling... Downshifts, hard acceleration we tried to make it rattle and heard nothing. Also, i was talking about it maybe being too loud for me but it's actually very nice. It has a mellow rumble from the inside but not too bad.

Thanks guys. What do you think about resonated tips? Would that help lower the volume inside the car? on the highway its fine but accelerating its quite loud. Its almost like having a sub in the back seat haha

If you want it to be loud... I highly recommend doing this. For a loud exhaust its still very tuned and not ricey

If you are gonna do this I highly recommend getting some type of insulation material to wrap around the muffler... I'm gonna try doing this cause its very loud inside the car. I think the 10 series is a good idea. Itll sound good no matter what.

I think 44's will definitely sound good. Its hard to mess up an exhaust when the muffler is that far from the tips... It won't sound raspy at all... I chose 40's cause i heard they get better airflow

what is the size of the stock piping? is it 2" or 2.25" I think mostly the problem with those 44's and 40's was the rasp, but yours dont seem to have none. How is it with rasp when you really rev her up there?

I forget now but while we were looking under the car we noticed it had 2.25" in some spots and 2.5" in other's. I think its 2.5" until either the cats or the H-pipe than it has 2.25 throughout the rest.

Oh the video you guys are watching was also taken the day after we finished installing it. It was driven maybe 5 miles. It sound much deeper now. It's very impressive for a V6. Accelerating normally it will gargle between gears when shifting at 2,500rpm and up. I usually never down shift but now i can't stop cause it sounds so cool.
I took more video's but they are in a parking lot at work. I'm trying to find time to go to an open road and really push it.
