Ported throttle body?
Sorry, im not very mechanically inclined. What is the benefit of a ported TB? Can you just port the stock one or is it an aftermarket part that comes ported?

If you are skilled and know what you're doing, you can port your stock Throttle body. There's also companies/individuals that hand port intakes and throttle bodies and do a very good job.
Recently CNC (computer programmed porting) ported Throttle bodies have become popular. Several vendors in this forum sell them from around $150.00. The greatest benefit of a ported TB is increased throttle response. You can make a little HP, but the main benefit is increased throttle response. |

ok, so i could probably find someone in my area that could port my stock throttle body. You mentioned intake also. what benefit do you get from porting your intake? Is this benefit increased if i get an after market cold air intake?

where did 8-12 HP come from?
dynos? I think you may be mistaken... if so, please delete it. Some one may read it and believe it. if you can get 10 HP for a $150 mod... everyone would have one.

To the OP...just get a VMax TB. If you can do any basic mechanic stuff you can put it on yourself. Take off the air intake and four bolts. Easy even for a novice.

Check with SC2150, Mike Norris (I believe was another seller), or Jannetty Racing. I'm sure you can find one through one of these guys.
Even if you have to wait a little it will be worth it. IMO I don't see how a human can port an polish a TB consistent everytime like a CNC machine can. Even if someone that hand ports them and does a good job most of the time doesn't mean you'll get one as good. Using a CNC machine you get a consistent porting job everytime. Just my .02 cents.....

And I agree with both Caverman and SC2150. I am one of the biggest skeptics and found the VMax to be well worth the money.

I have yet to see a dyno before and after on a 5th gen Camaro... so I am still a skeptic
