For those that are wondering, stock 392 Challenger times

Real world results are coming in from common people with stock 392 Challengers.
The results are showing that in good air (200-400 foot DA) the 392 Challengers are turning in times of around 12.4-12.3 with trap speeds around 113 MPH. These are auto cars, for your information.

12.48 @ 111 run in 350-400 foot DA on stock tires

Several drivers have seen 12.33 at 113 or so. At least one ran 12.7 with a DA of 2200 feet.

Just figured I would toss these up because there have been questions of what the 392 would run.

I wouldnt be at all surprised if a DR and tune combo (no other bolt-ons) produces 11.9XX at 115 or so.

Full bolt-on and tuned 392's with DR's may be closer to mid 11's in good air.

I'm going to have call some BS on those numbers....

2010 SRT-8
425HP/420 ftlbs of torque
0-60 in roughly 4.9-5.0
1/4 mile in 13.3

2011 SRT-8 (MotorTrends test)
470hp/470ftlbs of torque
0-60 in 4.6
1/4 mile time in 13.0 @ 111.3 mph

A boost of just 45hp and 70lbs of torque are not going to strip virtually a full second off a car in the 1/4 mile... especially a car that didn't get any lighter in the process (4260lbs).

Look, I'm not even bashing on the new Challenger, I actually am glad to see it with some real power.... but you simply arent overcoming physics with an extra 45hp...

I won't debate that this car is easily a high 12 car with the right conditions stock....but it's not posting a 12.4 in the 1/4 stock....

Here's Road and Track's version too

It looks that way because GM isnt doing anything for power mods for the SS's 2012 MY.

But the ZL1 will change that! It's not a SS tho..but its something!

Yes, but the 392 is the SRT-8...and the ZL1 is its true competitor....the R/T Challenger is still slower than the SS
