I think it is just overwrite. The serial # is on the back of the tuner. Whoever you tune with will ask you for that. Once you get the tunes via email, you use the SCT software (free from SCT.com) to overwrite.

If you keep any of the 3 tunes that were written on this programmer then the programmer would be locked and married to your cars VIN until you throw your stock tune back on. CORRECT me if I'm wrong. This would be costly or impossible to clear if it can be done at all.

It's unlocked but only works on Ford. I'll have to post on eBay.
