my custom magnaflow exhaust!!
took a trip to the local muffler shop yesterday and told the owner that i didnt want the axle back like everyone in town is getting. i wanted to be different so i told him to do me a xpipe muffler and deleted mufflers in the back and it turned out pretty good. when ur lower than 2,000 rpm their is no drone at all but once u go over u can hear alot of it i dnt really mind it cuz at least when ur on the high way on low rpms u cant hear it at all sounds stock. i have some pics and one cabin vid ill try to get the rev and idle vid later today or tomorrow
[IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]this is a vid of just normal driving and then a wide open throttle vid u cant really hear it as much but i tried lol UPDATE!!! GOT THE IDLE AND REV VID!! ![]() [IMG] [/IMG]

Hey man...thanks for the vids. Very much looking forward to more videos since I might be doing the same with my exhaust...but well see!
I have to admit, I am a bit worried when you say there is a lot of drone over 2K RPM...you can definitely hear it in your vid. But I also have an in cabin video of mine so I went to watch it and compared the two. The drone really occurs the most at just over 2K to a bit below 3K RPMs...and in my video it sounded pretty much exactly the same as your video does at those RPM ranges. But actually, I know for a fact that riding in my car in person isn't as bad as my video camera makes it out to be, so I'm hoping yours is the same way. (I have a small subwoofer hooked up to my PC, so I can really hear the lows well) If I end up doing this and like the outcome but it does have more drone, I may just end up adding some sound deadner in the trunk and hope that cuts it back some.

yeah i mean its it rear where u hear all the drone so sucks for the passengers sitting in the back cuz they probably wont be hearing anything ur saying in the front if ur over 2k rpms lol ill post up another rev and drive by vid hopefully tomorrow

I've been researching the heck out of ways to eliminate or cancel drone.
Theres sound dampering material...which seems to only work somewhat but never help completely unless maybe you use a tone of it along your entire trunk area and under the rear seats. But thats expensive and can add a lot of weight. Then I've read that adding weights to a certain area of the exhaust pipe itself has helped people before. But I also think this is more for calming down pipe resonance (a high frequency rattle I believe?) and may not necessarily fix our type of drone which is caused by sound frequencies. Then there are "J pipes". Now I've been aware for a long time how Solo uses the J pipe technology on its cat-back for the V6. I also know that there are very many happy people (V6 and V8) using J pipes to cancel out their drone but keep same exhaust sound. What I didn't know is that SOLO is apparantly also selling these J pipes seperately from their exhaust systems. I'm not suggesting you buy the J pipes...it is just a thought of mine that I might do in the future if I ever feel the need for it! Sorry, I don't mean to hijack your thread...Thanks again!

Hey rob! Thanks for the update! Sounds good...has what seems to be a lower (pitched) tone / slightly more muffled sound than many of the other exhausts but still plenty loud. Thats pretty much classic magnaflow for ya, but I guess it could have just been the way your camera recorded it as well.

I'm thinking of going a similar route, do you know your part number for the muffler
