I learned my PS skills through youtube videos. Be it, I am far from the masters like PQ and such. But I can do the basic things.

PS is one of those apps that just takes practice. there are tons of tutorials on the web both vids and walkthroughs...

Once you learn the basics... how to use the select tools and layers. you are pretty much off an running.

Hazman is beyond good. there is so much tat goes into what he does. People don't really understand how detailed his stuff is. matching perspective of backgrounds lighting and foreground.... He's very good. It's one thing to shop some wheels or change colors...
it's another thing to do what Haz does.

Yep...there's a lot you can learn that I still don't know how to do.

I can, however, make PQ look much sexier than that above pic!

Photoshop is like learning to play guitar-you'll never know everything there is to know about it. To start, I'd suggest a few youtube tutorials, and maybe even a class at your local city college. I finished college in 2006, so I'm not really sure of any books to recommend.

Once you get a feel for the basics, it's pretty fun to develop your own style and see what you can do. Good Luck and keep asking questions!

Yea yea I know I started it, but I didn't mean to make it seem like PQ is the all powerful PS king or something. That title would have to go to Hazman, hands down.

I would suggest some sites such as http://psd.tutsplus.com/
You can follow the examples and use the techniques on different pictures/projects.

I'm new here, just looking around to get a feel of the forum, poking around in all of the threads.

I'm just wondering, What's with the horse in the speedboat? Is that for a kid's book?

Pretty cool, though. I can visualize it going to film, "Mr Ed goes to Sea!" have a midget as the captain, dressed in pajamas, looking like a jockey.

Back to looking at the car threads.

When I was "addicted" to photoshopping, always loved the challenge of making the implausible look plausible. The horse is Barbaro, who of course passed after an 8 month battle to survive injury at the 06' Preakness. I like to think he lives on in heaven, and can now just do as he pleases, no longer under the rigors of being a racehorse.....maybe even pilot a Go Fast boat called "Sea Horse One" I'm a huge Barbaro fan, even quoted in a recently published book on him, and did several "upbeat" Barbaro photoshops, and a few vids, with the message "Barbaro Rocks On" and I truly believe he does.

Dude, are you serious, or just pulling my leg.

I'm not much on horse racing. My favorite racing is IMSA, but I got dragged to the horse track in Delaware once, and there were a bunch of people, mostly women wearing some sort of matching color blue and green outfits, and I think it was of that horse Barbaro. They seemed a bit odd, and my friends who are track regulars said they were a tad loony and they annoyed the track regulars

You named your car after a dead horse? (I guess that's OK since it's a Mopar )

To each his own. Actually, BARBARO was already taken in MN, so I got BARBRRO. Why does Hollywood spend millions making movies about dead horses such as Sea Biscuit, Ruffian, and Secretariat? Just maybe because millions of Americans find inspiration in them.

The Fans of Barbaro, a contingent of which you are so eager to disparage, has raised several million for equine/general animal rescue/welfare, and veterinary medical research. Maybe that doesn't mean much to a non-animal lover And the storied Churchill Downs obviously regards Barbaro and his legacy as something very, very special, as his remains are buried under a larger-than-life statue at the main entrance.

My original plan was to christen a new Camaro as Barbaro, but that plan is on hold....for now. To really do a horse justice that was undefeated in all 6 pre-Preakness races, and won by an average of 4.5 lengths, Barbaro's name should really be on something more like a Ferrari Enzo.

Obviously you don't get it. Thats ok, but that being said, please don't try and piss on those that do, Dude.

Absolutely AWESOME!!! Jose Caraballo, riding Barbaro to his second victory at the Laurel Futurity on 11-19-05. I would love to buy a print from you, with your signature and Jose's, if possible!?! I imagine Jose will never forget his rides on Barbaro. According to my Alex Brown book, he rode Barbaro to the greatest margins of victory in those first 2 races.

Your other work is also outstanding. The dogs are spot on, and your drawings of cars, homes, etc, very good. I can build stuff, but can't draw. I admire someone who can put a 3-D object on paper most of all. I feel it's tougher to draw/paint well than to sculpt.
Needless to say, your camaro is outstanding.

Derby, not meaning to pick a fight with you about the Friends of Barbarro's attire. I also think the Nascar fans wearing some of their outfits at Daytona look pretty foolish.

I too am an animal lover (in spite of what you think), both of my dogs and every cat I have had have been rescues or rehomes from a difficult situation. I find it difficult to comprehend an "animal lover" liking horse racing. I realize that many horses lead a good life, but it seems many don't. (I've been looking around the web) I read about 8-Bells, I guess she was surrounded by animal lovers.

Are you a vegetarian? I switched to a non meat diet almost 4 years ago after feeling I was somewhat of a hypocrite for eating meat and calling myself an animal lover. I haven't gone as far as being a vegan, so I guess everyone's perception of being an animal lover is different.

I must say, when I did eat meat, I had several occasions to eat horse meat and found it quite lean and tasty, and see no difference in eating Horse, chicken, cow, pig or fish. Even "had me some Gator Tail"....(tastes like chicken)

Sorry if you think I was "pissing on you" (your words). As you say, to each his own.

Back to car stuff. I haven't seen half of the neat stuff here..............
Have a swell day, and enjoy your Barbarro car.

No hard feelings. I probably came on a bit strong in my retort. I really got a kick out of your first post "Mr. Ed goes to Sea". Obviously you do have a good sense of humor.

Shamefully I am a meat eater. Very cool that you have the discipline to stay away from it. Also good to hear you've rescued your dogs and cats. I'm not your average Fan of Barbaro (FOB). Most are older women, and very few men. Barbaro first caught my eye in the Kentucky Derby, when he pulled away and won by 6 lengths. When he got injured, and fought to survive for those 8 months, I felt a certain bond with him. I struggle with really bad knee arthritis, and was really athletic in my younger years. So when I saw Barbaro go from being an elite athlete to stuggling with injury and pain, I related to that.

Blue and green are my favorite colors, so I have no problem identifying myself as an FOB from time to time.

Take Care!
Kent
