TURBONETICS and long tubes ?
Can the turbobetics kit be ran with long tube headers? or would i have to do a remote style setup?

Don't think long tubes will work but have seen some with shorties.

Long tubes won't work with Turbonetics kit. You don't need it.

Why would you want them? Longer hot-side piping will just increase lag. The turbos will muffle the sound anyway.

Long tubes won't work, and you don't need it. Even shorties may not make a noticeable difference, and more testing is needed to determine that.

The amount of money you would spend on a set of headers does not make sense for turbo systems, seeing you can easily increase the boost with a controller. As someone else also stated there would be more lag with long tubes because it will take longer to push the gases through. You want to get the gases through the piping as fast as possible.

Are all you other Turbo guys running your car catless? A new company is supposedly creating forced induction capable cats. Currently, the high flow cats on the market and stock cats are eventually going to let loose, as many people are having cat failures on forced induction applications, especially turbos from the pressure/heat.

10-4 on that. I would be nice to save two tune files on a system that can swap from one to another for times like that because the A/F ratio will likely be way off from cats to catless.

No cats on mine, but I do not need the car to be tested for smog here in FL.

I would recommend a set of ARH Smog Legal Headers.
Turbochargers Do In FACT respond to Exhaust improvements.

I need to move to Florida, ha-ha. No smog rules sounds like a car lovers dream come true. I wonder if job opportunities are better than it was a few years out there.
Thanks Ted for chiming in. Those are supposed to be great shorty headers, and I'd love a pair. They are pretty expensive though, but you have to pay to play right. I just wonder how much of a power difference we would see from a cheap shorty header versus the new ARH ones on a turbocharged system to justify the cost difference. It does look like the ARH are of higher quality and will likely have great longevity and craftsmanship, which will always increase cost. |
