She LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1986 Camaro + 99 LS1 from a Formula Firebird + carb conversion + open manifolds = fun.
![]() the beginning ![]() after the stock motor and trans was pulled.... nice lift on the front.... ![]() push button starter ![]() switch mounting box ![]() switches. red - msd ignition box blue - cooling fans green - fuel pump orange - alternator ![]() fuse block ![]() side shot of the motor ![]() front shot ![]() top shot ![]() first start attempt. idle adjust. as it turns out, Josh didnt set the fuel pressure regulator right and it was overflowing the carb. dialed it back down to 7 psi and fine tuning the idle still got some cosmetic stuff to finish up. gotta get into the shop and fab up some brackets for the coilpacks as well as chop the throttle bracket down so we can fit the air cleaner on the car. then tuck the wires away and clean it all up. we've got a pair of cherry bomb glass packs ordered for the exhaust... straight off the stock manifolds dumping right behind the front tires. stay tuned

Cool stuff Spike....
What made you decide on Edelbrock for the induction? That car will surprise a few people. |

as for the edelbrock stuff, the intake manifold and MSD box had just come into the scene after we had pulled the motor apart for the rebuild. and instead of spending another thousand or more for the pcm, wiring harness, injectors, rails, new fuel pump, etc. Josh showed me this setup and it was only like $650.00 for the intake and MSD box. there's another version out there now, this one uses chips to "tune" it for different cam specs. the newer version actually has a hook up so that you can do live tuning on it. the carb was just a spare one I had sitting around. I would have preferred to go with a holley (more tuneability IMO), but we had the Eddie and money was some what of a concern, so we used it. we are going to go with this combo for a little while. after the summer we are replacing the rear end with a Strange S60. after I blow up the stocker that is. ![]() then the plan is to move on and build an LSX 454. they are good for a lot of stuff for the top end of todays engines. some things are better/cheaper depending on where you go. but if you want some more info about the build, let me know. ive got a few more pics and a detailed build plan for every thing.

which one? lol I'm actually wanting to play with both, but from a tuning standpoint, im intrigued more by the L99. as for the 86, we are actually planning on a 454 LSX sometime in the future.... running about 13:1 cr on 105 octane and a meth kit.... should be fun

well, I already know an LS3 will fit nicely into a 4th gen. might have to take an L99 and drop it into the 78 LT....

Got a rough estimate on HP, and what kind of transmission you use T-56
