I would do this in a heartbeat if I wasn't so scared of the new paint not matching up 100%.

my car is 2 years old and I'm sure my rally yellow has fade some already. getting this ZL1 bumper painted to match 100% could be hard. especially to someone like myself who is very anal about my car.

Wow those bumpers are going to be gone soon. If anyone is worried about the quality of the harness, don't let that stop you. I bought one of his harnesses for non-rs to RS headlights and it looks factory and he uses high quality parts.

Take a chance Ozzie I am pretty sure a body shop can get it to match I will be doing this mod this summer.

Tell me about it and if you think yellow is bad, The IOM is real hard to match, And that is why i say have it done where the car is for the best match.

And i had a yellow bumper done and the mach was real good IMO on the first ZL1 bumper posted.

Yours is different if you want to stay with your non rs fog lights and add the new fog lights too, all we need is to yap in to the old fog light power to light the old and new fogs, have not made one that way, but its not hard, i need to test if we need a relay for this harness or not, Let me know if you want me to go this rout.

That is why i don't want it pre painted, i know the other venders on this site do grate work but my car has the 5% IOM colors, so its hard to match.

I might do that Sean. My Easter weekend involved some evil person backing in to the front end of my Bee then ran w/o telling me.

Thankfully the damage is minimal but I know it's there.

Go to a good body shop/painter you trust, and they normally have "shade cards" or something similar to compare your existing paint. It has several shades of the factory color for adjusting the base formula. This way it matches the shade or fade much closer than the typical book formula you'd get from a paint supply store.

Had a silver truck once and needed some spot paint and it came out a perfect match when they used the card. Found out it was 2 shades off from the book formula. Silver's a beeotch, so yellow shouldn't be hard.

EDIT: And some body shops have a scanner they can scan your existing paint to supposedly match it even better. But I'm not sure how well those actually work. I didn't opt for that method so I don't have first-hand knowledge.

How much is the insert for the hood? Where in AZ are you located? That way maybe I could save on shipping

here's a question for you ofer....

it's my understanding (from another thread) that the ZL1 front end doesn't align 100% with a stock SS hood. I read that the SS hood would need to be adapted.

this true or not?

This is correct.

However it is not the hood that needs to be adjusted, it is the fascia that needs to be adjusted.

Here it's easier to show you.

You see the raised area on the top of the fascia where it comes to a point? On the SS fascia and hood both of these line up. However this area on the ZL1 fascia does not line up with the SS hood. So some fabrication on the fascia is needed to move it over a little bit so it does.

umm, okay. so how hard is this to do?

I don't think I'd want to have something that's going to look fabricated. I'm pretty picky about my car.
