LS3 SS Shift 1st to 4th!!

I noticed in the manual for the LS3 that there is a display indicator on the dash that will light up at certain times telling you to shift from 1st to 4th in lieu of 2nd.

What's the issue with this and can you really damage the transmission if you shift to 2nd when the indicator is displayed?

It's skip shift. Helps you save gas, or it's supposed to anyway. Yes you can damage your tranny if you force the car into 2nd.

This, if you really don't like it you can purchase a "skip-shift eliminator." Enter that into the search bar and all the information you need should come up.

Just go and gets some mods and then get it tuned out or buy a skip shift eliminator for about $20

Probably. It's there for CAFE standards to avoid paying a gas guzzler tax. Very easy to defeat. You can buy a skip shift eliminator from several vendors on here and e-bay. Some people will tell you to just buy a 10 cent resistor from Radio Shack but that's easier said than done if you want to do it right. The SSE cost $12-25 depending on where you get it. You'll also get some comments like just go faster so it doesn't come on. Those people evidently don't understand physics, you know, 2 objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time.

Drove me NUTS, got it tuned out and the world is a better place now...lol

The first time it came on I was like oh hell may as well try it, they wouldnt do it if it didnt work...

...my poor car was trying to lug along at 500 RPMs and it didnt like it one bit!

I would still take skip shift to avoid gas guzzler tax instead of the L99. $20 fix vs...

I've gone from first to third when that annoying light came on. Never seems to be a problem.

It's weird but for the first 1000 miles I never got the message. I kept trying to get it to come on..... so i know what it does and how the car reacts.

Well I finally got it a couple times... like someone said if you are following a person going really slow. Eliminator has definitely been added to my mod list.... how annoying!

The lock-out shift mechanism has been like this since 1993 for a Camaro SS.

Did you time travel here
