Thumbs up How to convert your HID DRLs to HID Fog Light using Ofer's wiring harness

Hey guys! I started this thread for the guys who want to know how they can can turn their HID DRLs to HID Fog Lights.

I contacted Ofer about making me a custom wiring harness so I could run my HID DRLs at night aka HID Fog Lights. I attempted this in the past by purchasing a another type harness however the harness I bought wasn't working due to the HIDs were overloading the BCM. Ofer assured me he could make one that would work with my HIDs. Well after a few days of waiting it was delivered and it works great!

Before I go into the installation part I will tell you a little background on my HIDs. I'm using Kelvin's 8k HIDs. I have switched out the housings for the non-RS housing. The reason for that is because its glass faced unlike the RS housing which are plastic. With that said lets begin on the installation of Ofer's harness.

Skill Level to complete this mod: Base on a scale of 1-10. With 10 being a hardest skill level I would put this mod at a 3. Very simple as long as you got basic mechanic skills.

Tools needed for the task: 3/8" Ratchet, 1/2" socket, 9/16" socket, a #20 Torx bit driver, a small drill bit and a cordless drill.

Here's a pic of the harness. It a simple looking harness and doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out.

First off I disconnected the battery from under the hood using the 9/16 socket and ratchet.

Next I popped open the fuse box panel and removed the nut that hold the power cable on. This is located at the bottom of the fuse box. Tip: You don't need to removed the power cable itself. You'll need the 1/2" socket and ratchet for this.

Next you'll need make sure the wheels are turned sharp to the left so you can access the right fender well. You will then need to removed the three #20 Torx screws from the fender well liner.

After you removed the three #20 torx screws you can then pull the fender well liner back. From here you will need to find a purple plug that's mounted to the backside of the front bumper. You can find plug a few inches about the DRL housing.

Once that has been located the black/purple plug, you will need to unplug it from the factory wiring harness. You will need Ofer's wiring harness now. You will need to take the male plug that you just unplugged and plug it into the female end of Ofer's wiring harness. Next you will need to plug Ofer's wiring harness back into the spot where you unplugged factory plug. With that all hooked up it should look like a T. See picture below.

Next you will need to feed the remaining cables from Ofer's wiring harness up to the engine bay area. I was able to do this by simply taking my right arm and pushed the cables up until I could grab them with my left hand.

Once you have the remaining cables ran you can then secure the wire with loop connector to the power cable. Place the loop connector over the threaded stud and replace the 1/2" nut.

Now you will need to find a place to mount the the relay box. I chose to mount the relay box near the top of the fender well which was next to the other factory wiring harnesses. I drilled a pilot hole and mounted the relay with a small metal screw.

Once you got all that done just replaced the torx bit screws in the fender well and reconnect the battery cable to the battery post.

You're all done!

Here are some pictures, so enjoy! Hope everyone likes my little write-up / DYI. A big thanks to Ofer for making this happen!

If you're going HIDs in you DRLs like I did then you are looking about $70. Non-HID harness ill have to ask Ofer.

I know this is probably a dumb question but do you need to connect these to both lights, and if so does the kit come with two?

Just connect it on the passenger side. That's the only plug.
