I understand the need for this story to be here as it's important to get all the positive press you can, but I'll never understand why the public needs such validation.
Personally I bought mine b/c it's the car I wanted, and it really doesn't matter who else likes it. I can't ever see myself using Kiplingers as validation in case anyone questions my choice of vehicle. "Dude, why did you buy a Camaro?" "Well, Kiplingers says they're a good value!" Isn't that just ridiculous?

to most they were even sub-categorized further than that... Camaros, Mustangs, Firebirds, Challengers, they made up the Pony Cars

Historical definitions aside,
If you drive a classic American car with a big block and SRA suspension then you consider the 5th gen a sports car. If you drive anything from a Civic to a Nismo 370Z you probably consider the 5th gen a muscle car. It's all relative to the context of who you are talking to.

I'd classify the SS and the GT as sports cars. I'd say the Challenger would be the muscle car out of the bunch. You don't need an article to tell you the SS is an awesome ride.

As for me a Sports Car is a 2 seater like the Vette. Stangs, Camaro's, Challenger's are Pony cars. That is what they where back in the 60 -70's

Talking about resale values, I am in the process of trading my 2010 1LT for a 2012 1LT convertible. So just for a reference I checked Kelly blue book values for my car, then just for fun I did the same for a V6 2010 Mustang equipped the same as my Camaro. I couldn't believe it but the Camaro was valued $5,000 more than the Mustang. Great for the Camaro!!!

A sports car (or sportscar or sport car) is a small, usually two seat, two door automobile designed for performance driving and maneuverability.[1] Sports cars have been either spartan or luxurious, but good handling and minimum weight are requisite.[2]

I think Popular Mechanics and some other non-auto magazines gave credit to the Camaro as well. Some posters are right it wouldn't matter who does or doesn't name it "car of the year" or "best", it's still MY choice...but it is nice to know that others agree with my choice! When you bought an Edsel and everyone who saw it threw-up, it didn't make you feel too good! I personally like the acolades.
