KOOKS or AMERICAN RACING

Sell me on why I should spend the extra $$$ on American Racing instead of going with Kooks? They look nearly identical to Kooks other than the high velocity spike and one primary tube kicks back on the passenger side more than kooks. Is there any proof of HP difference? I just want to make the best purchase for my car and do it right the first time. Also I'll be buying 2" primary's if that makes a difference in the reason why I should buy one over the other. Thanks for the help guys.

These two are so close it's hard to say one is "better"

I went with ARH and haven't had a single problem or complaint.

I think it really comes down to two things. Calling them and speaking to them about your build, and hunting around to try and find a good price from one of their dealers.

My 2 cents.

Both outstanding companies. I went the ARH route because I like their conections better, but you will find plenty of people that like Kooks conections better.

You will not be disappointed in the ARH. ang if you get them from Phastek you can use the code for camaro5 discount of 5%, which will take about a hundred dollars off the cost.

The good news is that you can't go wrong with any of the big names; ARH, Stainless Works, and Kooks are all going to be pretty close to identical in terms of performance and quality. If you have any questions do not hesitate to hit me up.

CDawg705, Not sure if this matters to you but GM themselves chose us for all the COPO Camaro's that'll be terrorizing dragstrips nationwide this summer. Ford uses ARH on all the Cobra Jets and Dodge used us exclusively on all the V10 Drag Pack Challengers. ARH is also the spec headers for the 50 Dodge Viper ACR-X's built to run the Viper Cup. Google all these great cars for more insight. If you have questions please feel free to ask. Thanks

It definitely matters and I know both are top notch companies, just looking for some proof in the pudding so to speak. I mean does the extra scavenging really make that big of a difference? Are we talking about a few HP and a few ft/lbs of torque or 8-10????

I had arh on mines and loved it. Sounded soooo such better. I had cats with x pipe. Took them off to install twin turbos and added some shorties. Either one you choose you'll be happy. The're both top notch and you can't go wrong.

I'll be doing the short system, or will the FlowMaster AMT X-pipe make a difference in sound and performance?

kooks and ARH are both quality headers. if i were to have to make the same decision (assuming the primary and collector sizes were the same), it would come down to price.
