DIY: Shorty Headers 2011 LS3 V8
Install took me 4 hrs. This is what tools were needed in total: 10mm, 13mm, 15mm sockets short and deep, 15mm open ended wrench, small, medium, large extensions. Breaker bar (always make mine with a large socket and large extension....) and a screwdriver. Remember to disconnect battery first. I left all the spark plugs in, removal of plug boots necessary.
Note: contrary to what I heard multiple times, I removed both manifolds from the top of the engine on both sides. Neither from the bottom. Installed new headers from the top as well. Take off the engine cover to get the passenger side up through the top. Only thing I had to do from the bottom was tightening of front flange bolts. I used the original gaskets, 41K later they were like new. Also need to unbolt dipstick, pulls right out from top, goes back in same way, make sure it went in (look from bottom next to starter.) I am pleased. F.Y.I. |

What kind are they? JBA, American Racing, etc? Do you notice any initial power changes?

Bought them on Ebay from Gearhead. $229 free shipping. Couldn't pass it up. Frankly, don't think there's any performance gain from these specifically. I wasn't expecting one either, I still retain factory cats. However, the combination of the C.A.I., SLP catbacks and these headers now....collectively, there are gains in the 3 to 6 thousand rpm range. No doubt. Sounds badass, not too loud, just right.

I'm now on the crest of crashing out my powertrain warranty. I had a 427 Chevelle prior to buying my Camaro. I had done every possible thing to it sans nitrous and a supercharger. Got 5 mpg and drove it often. To a degree I got my ya, ya's out with that.....however, I'm getting the parts itch again.
