G3 Carbon State of the Union Address

Good afternoon folks,

It's been a good year for G3 and I thought I'd share a quick State of the Union Address for the company today and our expectations as we move into the future.

So far, running this company, even though it's small, has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I've been able to connect with so many of you on a personal level it's almost unreal. The hospitality, support, and cheerleading from all of you really make it all worth it for me.

I can't begin to tell you how much support we've had from our clients.

Howard Tanner, owner of Redline Motorsports (www.redlinemotorsports.net), has been our absolute champion. He's supported us more than any single other person outside my wife. In fact, we recently helped complete a project for his ZL-R program that's packing up and heading to SEMA as you're reading this.

It's not every day that a company less than a year old makes their way to the SEMA floor and its all because of Howard Tanner and his Redline Motorsports brand.

Another huge G3 supporter has been John Liu, owner of Lighting Techniks. (www.lightingtechniks.com) We have a strong sponsorship partnership with him that allows us to help handle the carbon work for his Lexus IS350c which is ALSO SEMA bound.

As you can imagine: I'm a proud papa of a baby that still has a lot of growing to do.

In the short time we've been in business, we've grown from a 500 sqft facility into one that's 2000 sqft, so things are looking good today and great for tomorrow.

The biggest piece of news to share is the unfortunate departure of my now-former partner, John Perez. I found John as a potential client and ordered some pieces from him. I quickly found him to make a high quality of product, but his business management skills were lacking, to put it kindly. (He failed to deliver and I ultimately had to do a charge back on my credit card.)

So, with what I thought (at the time) to have been a reasonable understanding as to just how dire his situation was, I offered him an opportunity to start anew with me down here in South Florida.

While he had no money to contribute to the business (I had to wire him $1000+ just for him to relocate), I opened my home to him, ensuring him a warm bed in which to sleep and a hot meal to fill his belly, in exchange for him providing an additional knowledge base and helping to work towards the common goal of growing a company we both felt to have something special to offer.

As a requisite of my partnership offer, John was to work to repay his debt to his former clients, most of which came from the Tesla and Lotus communities. (Which is where I found him in the first place.) This was an absolutely condition for remaining in a partnership with me and John agreed to fulfill those obligations in keeping with it.

Over the 11 months that followed John moving to South Florida, I quickly came to understand how John got himself in trouble in the first place: I feel that his lack or organizational skills, poor impulse control, and consistent knack for poor decision making are incredible liabilities for any business.

You can all imagine my shock and horror when, after more than 9 months of being in partnership with Mr. Perez, that I was STILL getting calls from clients to whom he was indebted and of which I was not initially aware.

In the 10-11 months of our partnership, during which I've provided work space, materials, and any other resource necessary to be successful in this business, John was only able to satisfy fewer than 8 of the 20+ people owed products.

Let me say that again: even under the best of circumstances, with nearly unlimited supplies, John failed to repay his past debts.

So, after this final (past) week of challenge after challenge, missed deadline after missed deadline, and excuse after excuse, it became overwhelmingly clear that our partnership was no longer viable if I had any hope of sustaining the company.

So, here we are.

I now own 100% of the company that hasn't produced a single dollar of profit in its first year of life. It's year one and was heavily in need of investment, which I've personally incurred as an out of pocket expense, so this isn't any sort of a concern, but simply a part of any new business.

Currently, Mr. Perez is now back in the wild/on his own and, even though I recommended against it, I assume he will try to get back into the business of carbon fiber.

I say that to bring attention to the people he will undoubtedly contact via PM in an effort to scare up some business. It's your money and your prerogative, but I would strongly consider what you're doing if you decide to part with your money.

As a matter of fallout to what was starting to feel like ground zero of a nuclear bomb, we've fallen behind with a handful of projects: specifically a front ZL-1 splitter for PyroBoy (Josh), a quad-tip rear diffuser for El Manny (provided by Ofer.), and a ZL-1 spoiler for Richie.

So, my commitment to the community is to double down on what we do here: To invest more heavily in infrastructure and to speed up our processes significantly.

In fact, in an effort to get a little more pep in our step, I've already hired not one, but TWO additional employees with extensive composites and carbon experience.

It's a new day and we're a company renewed.

As always, please feel free to call or email me directly. As anyone who has done business with me can attest: I'm almost always available and incredibly responsive.

So, thanks again for the support and your business everyone. We're looking forward to continuing our growth efforts and getting more top-quality carbon fiber into your hands.

Though I've never worked with you or posted in any of your threads, it's clear that you're passionate about what you do. Good luck in the future and keep bringing those carbon goodies!

Yes, I did just bump a 6 month old thread.

Thanks guys. I take what we do incredibly seriously.

I feel terrible for the people who were wronged but have never done business with us. No one should ever have their trust violated like that. (I'm working with the Tesla community to get them their product, even though I never saw a dime of the money they paid for it.)

We may be a little slow at times, but it's because we refuse to ship a sub par product, never because we're trying to keep it together in some sort of crazy ponzi scheme. (We've all seen it before.)

I love what I (we) do and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

Alan

buyer beware do not do business with G3 carbon

myself and others have ordered parts from this company never receive the parts and now we're out our deposits. We are all filing Better Business Bureau claims and doing what we can to reclaim our money if you buy anything from this business contact your credit card companies or your bank immediately and file A fraud claim.
PayPal has already shut them down for fraud.
