Got my new ZL1 spoiler

Got it yesterday. I've been waiting on this for 2 weeks, as I bought it painted. It was horrible waiting on it! We had 3 fedex trucks drive through the neighborhood before the right one came.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it, especially for the price. I lucked up and was able to get it off of ebay when they had a 10% off coupon code for odering off of the ebay motors app, so I paid a total of $179 shipped, for a primed and painted spoiler, with 3rd brake light.

here are some pics. It's just laying on the trunk for now. I am excited to see that it's a much taller profile than I expected, all the pictures make it look pretty low profile, but it's quite tall.

Hows the brake light?? I saw these recently as well. Was curious as to how the brake light worked out. I know you got to make the extra hole (no biggie) but seems like a really good price and deal if it fits and works well!

Congrats and looking forward to seeing the brake light in action!!

I don't know, it looks good and looks like it should be fairly easy to hook up. I hope to install it tomorrow, so I'll let you know.

Right!

Now, my first question is, what kind of bit should I use to drill them, with the lowest chance of slipping or screwing it up? I know how hard drilling through painted metal can be, so I want to make sure I do it right.

Get a stepper bit from Home Depot. They're made for going through sheet metal.

I used a small punch tool to mark a pinhole size dent each hole I was supposed to drill so I wouldn't slip. Then I used a 1/8th drill bit to drill the initial hole through the metal. Then go in with the stepper bit to widen the hole.

Spoiler really looks great! I'm thinking about buying one of these for my car since it's one of the very few decent priced good option.

Well, Igot it installed, ill post pics later tonight. It actually uses the stock holes, or at least I think it does. Mine didn't have a spoiler to begin with, but all 4 holes line up with the plastic covers inside of the trunk. So I think the only hole you would have to drill if you already have a spoiler, is the hole for the 3rd brake light. Of course I had to drill all 5. I still have to wire up the light, but I'll do that later. I couldn't find how to get to the existing 3rd light wire, I saw the speaker wires. Do I have to take off the rear deck?
