Insurance for 2SS < 2LT ???

I just got quotes from Allstate that put the 2SS at $96 LESS than a 2LT per 6 month premium! If I insure my 2000 Tahoe and 2010 Camaro on the same plan, the 2SS is a whopping $130 LESS than the 2LT per 6 month premium! I may need to rethink this 2LT.

Anyone else getting quotes for the V8 coming in lower than the V6? Anyone else even considering one or the other?

Are you sure there is no mistake, its not backwards. That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Maybe parts are easier to get for the v8 ? Or more common currently?

Otherwise I'd just say it's maybe a mistake?

I agree, it makes no sense. I asked her to confirm, and she said "believe it or not, these are correct quotes". I wonder if any other allstate multiple vehicle customers can confirm this.

I got a rate of less than $500 for six months on a 2SS for my 21 yr old son.... It floored me! That's $20 more than my wife driving a 2005 Lexus RX330, and she's got a perfect history at 47! I couldn't believe it! However, there's NO WAY that's correct.... something is coded wrong, for a car that costs $5k more than another to be less to insure for the same driver, not to mention the high performance aspect of the more expensive car!
Wow!

I'm starting to worry about this car being way too new and these quoting engines being way off.

I bet they have the engines reversed. Probably thinking the 2LT is the top of the line version rather than the 2SS.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner.

Just wait 6 months when all these policies come up for renewal, I'll bet we have a flood of "my insurance rates got jacked up for no reason".

It's probably from all the Avis crashes. That data goes into the underwriting formulas.

Well just picking on Avis for getting cars before all pre orders filled but it's probably the total LT wreak and wheel / window claims larger than SS.

Maybe the SS was used for crash test. Crash test have a lot to do with safety ratings. If the LT does not have any test then it might me scores lower ok safety rating. This is only a wild guess and have no proof. Just a maybe. Also the SS should weigh more and it might add to the safety factor.

No diff in SS or LS in a crash.. same car.

Very few differences safety wise. It's the cost not the test. They look at claims data. Data is mined and sold to underwriters. It could also just be a data entry error / human error.
