LFX timing/cam chain alignment info

I thought this might be useful to have on here for anyone looking into attempting a cam swap themselves...

My mechanics nor I have ever changed cams on the LFX, but we have contacts at a GM dealer here that can help. I could buy the service manual but it's around 200 dollars, so if anyone can get a hold of some info on this please feel free to chime in. I was wondering if the cams can be changed without removing the WHOLE front cover. Like I said any information, diagrams, pics is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Camshaft Removal Proedure - Left side

1. Remove lower intake manifold
2. Remove the left bank camshaft cover (aka valve cover)
3. Remove the camshaft sensors
4. Remove the camshaft position actuator solenoids
5. Remove the crankshaft balancer
6. Rotate the crankshaft with the EN 46111 Crankshaft Rotation Socket until the camshafts are in a neutral (low tention) position. The camshaft flats will be parallel with the camshaft cover rail.
7. Use an open end wrench at the camshaft hex to prevent camshaft/engine rotation. DO NOT remove the camshaft position actuator bolt at this time. LOOSEN the camshaft postion actuator bolt.
8. Install the EN 48313 Timing Chain Retention tool (1 and 2)in order to retain the timing chain. Firmly tighten the EN 48313 Timing Chain Retention tool nuts
9. Mark the timing chain and the respective locations on the camshaft postion actuators
10. Remove the camshaft postion actuator bolt.
11. Remove the camshafts.
I imagine the right side camshaft(s) removal is the same or very similar. I will try to post the illustrations tomorrow if/when I get time.
