Road Race Tires

I need some dedicated road race tires for my stock 20" wheels. Any recommendations?

If you are going to buy a dedicated set of tires for road racing then I assume you are going to buy another set of rims. I cannot imagine mounting and unmounting the individual tires on your stock rims. I think you are better off looking at some different rims to reduce weight and improve your tire choices. There are more tire options in the 19" rim than the 20". You can run a wider rim for a more square set-up on the front and better handeling. I'm running the toyo R888's right now and that is a better tire than the Goodyears. I think the Hoosier R6 is another step better, but it only fits 19" rims as far as I know.

Michelin super sports if you're worried about treadware rating, R888 if looking for max traction. The super sports in the widest 315 that'll fit is on national backorder right now. How disappointing for me since I ordered them a couple days ago...

Yes, the backorder stuff with the Michelin's is a pain...I always keep an extra set around during racing season, as the wait can be long at times....

I have two sets of stock wheels, one of them has MT DRs on rear with the GY stocks on the front.
After you guys help I am going to try a set of the R88's on the other stock set.

I also have a couple of sets of 22" I use for daily driving.

Thanks

Race tires for the stock (skinnies) will be hard to find. The Toyo R888 20" tires only come in 285 and 315 widths which need 10" and 11" wide rims respectively (minimum 9.5/10.5).

Nitto NT01 now come in 285/35/20 and can be shaved. The rear would be stretched on 11", but would be "sort of" squared setup. They are available, but dealers need to call for them. I went with R888s since my last check, the NT01 increased $37/tire from a month ago. It was about $200 more for a set over the R888s and couldn't justify that cost.
