Weight of adding SC?
Hey guys I was just wondering how much weight is added to the engine by going with a supercharger?? Did anyone notice a significant change with the way the car handles?

It adds roughly 100lbs, the only thing I could tell that changed was my grin got a whole lot bigger

I don't think it's near that much. I'd say it's closer to half that and no you won't notice it. Magnason has both boxes it comes in weighing 40lbs on their website.

That must be a typo, it weighs more than that.

I would say around 75lbs. 100 sounds a little steep. That blower is more than 40 pounds for sure.

With our fat cars already weighting in around 3800lbs +/- another 75lbs +/- is nothing.
I noticed nothing different except in the power delivery, which increased .

Given the power added by any supercharger the weight it adds is minimal you'll come out better in the end.

I've got a bigger reservoir than most but I have 40 lbs of water to cool mine. I think 100lbs sounds about right for the total package.

I would say with supercharger, intercooler, hoses, pump, coolant tank and the system full of coolant, 100 lbs would be pretty easily reached!!!

Shipped a TVS 2300 by itself and it alone tipped the scales right around 75lbs. with everything else Id have to agree that 100lb would be pretty easily reached. |

~ 80lbs is the correct number, but then again im sure different blowers will weight differently, centrifugal vs PD and air to water intercoolers vs air to air etc...

I guess I did not take into account fluids... I guess 100 would be about right then.

Wow! Thanks for the responses guys! Just out of curiosity, did anyone of you consider going LSX454 instead of a supercharger? It seems that the weight added would be roughly the same.. Maybe a little more weight with the LSX.
