It's been a sad last few days...

Yesterday I took my car and met a friend, while waiting I turned my car off because as much as I love my cam it does get annoying when just sitting. I go to start the car about 10 minutes later and it's not wanting to turn over. After trying 3-4 times the car finally turns over and I just thought I'll take it into my local dealership later. I go to pull into the gas station and look in my side mirror and saw a lot of white smoke/condensation and that concerned me as well. At that point I was going to take my car in as soon as I got gas. While pumping my gas I popped the hood just to make sure everything was alright which it wasn't... The same white smoke/condensation was flowing out of my oil breather cap. (I was not burning oil or low on oil.) At that point I got scared and drove slow and watched all my gauges to the dealership (all gauges normal).

I get the phone call today that 4 pistons warped from lack of fuel. Even though I have a zl1 fuel pump and a booster. They also tell me I melted 4 spark plugs and they ran a compression test on the motor. Tomorrow they're going to pull the heads and check the bottom of the motor for damage and check the piston walls to see what damage, if any, was caused.

I'm just waiting until tomorrow with another night of me feeling sick over my car.

Any insight on the possibilities of damage that could have been done or just any advice at all?

Oh man, as a fellow 45th owner, I'm greatly saddened. Although I would be for any fellow camaro owner as well, but for a 45th even more. I'm not engine savvy, so I can't advise on anything, but wishing you the best. Hope all works out for the best. Keep us posted.

Wow that is terrible. Looking over your list of mods I can say you are probably in for a big repair bill. Minimum engine rebuild, maximum engine replacement. Good luck and I hope it doesn't hit you too hard.

Damn that's hard, I'm sorry for you. Why not use the free roadside, and get the car towed rather than drive it? BTW, who did your engine build? I'd ask them to look at it....

It could be lots of things, like bad injectors or faulty fuel pump. Aaron will take care of you. Sorry you will be without the car for a while though.

When you did the cam, did you remove the AFM equipment and disable with a proper tune?

This sounds plausible

In his sig it says he had the L99 to LS3 conversion kit installed. I would assume this eliminates the AFM and equipment associated with it.

I did have the AFM removed and the tune was done by Rhino79 (he's a member) and it's back in his hands.

At some point the fuel dropped and the pistons were running too lean, that's all I know as of now.

Sorry about your misfortune during this time of the year. I don't know much about EFI but anything can be rebuilt. Just make sure that every piece is scrutinize, you only want to do this once. If its not your primary vehicle i would come up with a plan that would make it better than it was.
