SS Badge removal

Searched. Is it necessary to remove front facia to remove the SS badge on the grill? Feels like the inside will just push off but on the outside edge looks like it hits something behind the grill. Mine is starting to chip so I want to remove and paint. May or may not reinstall. Thx

I chose not to remove upper piece and just reached through grill to move the four tabs but this video will show you how tabs work so you know which way to push them. It was kind of a bear to do but be patient and you can get it off.

I did not put mine back on. Bought a fill in pieced to replacceteh bow tie.

It's just pops out. Slip a trim removal tool on each side and pull, you'll release the tab and it will pop out. Try and feel for the back clip cover and hold it while pulling, worse case it falls and you'll have to fish it out. No biggie.

Here is what the holder looks like so you get an idea what I mean.

The ront bowtie on my 2011 had four tabs like in the video, not 2 like the bracket in above post. Maybe it varies by model year??

He's not talking about the bowite, he's talking about the SS emblem/badge.

It's very easy to remove and reinstall without removing the bumper. It is a little trickier getting it put back, but it can be done in about 5 minutes.

Thx for the quick replies. Yes I want to remove the SS emblem not the bow tie. I did the bow tie already. Replaced with color matching. Gonna paint the SS's black but may not reinstall. Thanks again.

Just mask around the one opening and spray the emblem with plastidip.

Looks good. I'm going to try to keep the 'chrome' trim if I can.

Which tab do you press to release ...the camel hump one on the top of the tab or the latch one at the end of the tab?
