2011 Camaro 2SS Hurst Shifter and HardDrive Knob
Well, decided I'd put in my shifter today. It was not a bad job @ all -- except putting the HardDrive knob bolt on.
I follow the directions for the Hurst Shift plate to a T -- they are perfect and I've linked the instructions here (no sense in repeating them as the pdf was spot on): This is for the plate: Hurst Auto Shifter Plate This is for the HardDrive Knob: Hurst Auto Shifter Handle This is pretty much how the box came: ![]() And the contents: ![]() Once I finshed the Plate, I started to put on the HardDrive knob. That's where the issues began. What I found is the hole in the Knob was about .002 off. I could NOT get the screw in. What I also found was the bolt relief machined in was not big enough to allow the screw to account for the difference. What I had to do was use a fine 'file' and open the hole up a bit and then file out the relief -- this took trial and error until I was able to get the bolt to fit (snug for sure, this won't back out!). So, here is the front of the knob/handle: ![]() And the file I used: ![]() Now, here is the finished product! Woo hoo: ![]() ![]() ![]() Love the difference and the feel. The ABL's look awesome and I'll get a pic of that tonight and post it here later... Do note I need to clean the plate and handle -- those are not scratches ;o) -Don Last edited by hammdo; 10-26-2018 at 03:47 PM. |

Tried to paint mine- it looked terrible (your's looks great!).
So I realized I wanted a pistol grip the whole time- so I made one. Ended up going with 'T' Hurst shifter in the end... V6 shifter was too notchy with a truly "short" shifter!

That is nice, unfortunately not enough options for the auto. I have a spare handle so I had nothing to lose in trying. Sanded through the clear on the corner a little bit so I'll have to re-clear it at some point.

Not sure how RJT will look on the handle -- I chose the black (and paid more). I like all the options I've seen. Its amazing what folks will think up and do -- really inspiring...
