R&T: The Camaro Z/28 versus the world (Viper TA vs GT-R vs V12 Vantage S)

The verdict is in, and everyone from our least experienced staff member to a two-time Grand-Am champion agrees. In this company, the Z/28 feels perfectly at home. It might be too expensive for what you get, although one suspects that Chevrolet will sell every one it can build. And the car might even be flattered by what is surely the finest tire package ever fitted to a mass-market production car. But it has the heart, the mojo, and the all-around ability to shine in virtually any gathering. Among these cars, on this track, it's worthy of another Fowles quote: "A gentleman in a gentleman's house."

This misfit is not what the Camaro has always been. Whatever the Chevy once was, however, it's now one thing: outstanding.

That's the first complaint I've heard about heat soak on the LS7.

Should the term "heat soak" be used if the car isn't pulling timing? Will a car pull timing if oil temps are too high?

I think this article has been covered here before and we determined they did not do anything to prep the car for track use...ie...50 weight oil and simply removing the rain tray on the hood vent.

My hometown salesman misspelled it and she had one sitting right outside her office.

Considering how many times I've seen it spelled "Camero" here, it's a well-earned insult.

No offense, however with some Camaro fan I completely understand the sentiment.... Not the point about spelling Camaro right. However the Z/28 Camaro is the kind of car that I find traditionally Camaro fans are not interested in. I talk to so many who say the only thing that matters is either 0-60 or 1/4mile times and everything else with the Camaro is a waste.

Though it seems as though at GM they have a really strong stretch of making performance cars that excel in many areas. I really can't wait to see the 6th generation Camaro, I want to see what kind of package they have come up with.
