Engine choices
Everyone assumes the SS will be a V8. And the base model will get a V6 or Turbo 4 option. What if the V6 or even basic V8 was replaced with the ATS-V power plant? A TT-V6. Possibly de-tuned to 400 hp to replace the V6. Or tuned up closer to 500 hp to replace the base V8. The alpha platform is already setup to handle it and clearly doesn't have clearance issues the Stingray had when considering turbo power. How would that go over with enthusiasts?

But the information on GMAuthority does suggest that. It says V8 (LT1)

I doubt we will see the TT-V6 in the Camaro. Maybe a Turbo 4 if they can build one with at least as much HP as the one in the Mustang. All things being equal I would prefer the V8 to the TT-V6. |

There's no point. The LF4 doesn't make more than the LT1.

I had a dream a week or so ago that the Camaro gets the turbo 6. I guess I've been on here too much lately. Not going to happen though, at least not for now.

We've already heard from multiple videos that it is in fact a V8, and most likely the LT1 as the others have said.

Would it be heresy to have a performance option somewhere between the V6 and V8?
I'd rather have a TTV6 for $28k than a 2LT with a damn moonroof. |

I would imagine that the TTV6 is at least as expensive to manufacture as the V8, and the reality is that its probably more expensive.
You also have to factor in that its performance is very similar to the V8, so even if it were possible to offer a TTV6 for $28k, GM would never do it, because they would be cannibalizing the V8, which they presumably make more money on. |

1. Worse mileage than the V6 and would require premium fuel. The V6 is the power seller and losing those benefits would seriously jeopardize sales. 2. The engine is as costly to build as an LT1 and weights the same. As far as replacing the V8. That's a definite no.

I think people are going to be very shocked at the options we have when ordering the new camaro, both in engine choices and trim levels ( 1LE, ZL1, SS, etc) the 1st year

There are no current plans for TTV6 in the Camaro.

I see the LT1 has AFM which I hated on my L99... I had to use a Range to delete it. Now I have the V8 I wanted. So how will that be handled? Can it be disabled with a setting to avoid an aftermarket fix again? This time I assume it will affect manual trans cars too.
