Random Error Messages
I did some searches and came up with a little info on where to start, mostly things as known issues or random occurrences however cannot locate something experiencing all of these
My car randomly throws 3 different errors, there is no reasoning to when these occur or a related driving condition everything is just random. Looking for any suggestions on where to start before having to go through the horror of attempting to take this to a dealer since I do not have another car and can't see this being an easy, quick or cheap fix. 1- Most Common - "Engine Power Reduced" "Service Stabilitrak". - Car loses the majority of engine power. This has been occurring every 5-7 days for about 3 months. If I pull the battery cable and wait 10 seconds it goes away. 2 - "Service Stabilitrack" and "Service Parking Assist". This one has pulled maybe 8 times in 10 months. When it pulls though nothing is wrong with the car, it runs fine however my speedo/rpm gauges stop working for some reason. Again If I pull the battery cable and wait 10 seconds it goes away. 3 - ""Service Stabilitrack" and "Service Power Steering" This has happened 3 times over the course of 10 months. When this pulls I actually lose power steering capability. Again If I pull the battery cable and wait 10 seconds it goes away. So I'm at 50k miles, I have an "extended warranty" that has some vague misc electrical coverages. My assumptions are the car could have a bad ECM perhaps? |

Same do you Have Range AFM Disable Device. It is known to create such problems and goes away instantly when you pull the range out...

I do have a range, problem #1 started after one month or so after the installation the others occurred before. It seems like #1 has progressively got worse, I've read some things on the range but should it be occurring that often?
Well I just bought a new multimeter and a cheap code reader on ebay, so I'll start digging more into it. Alternator failure would be covered under my extended warranty. I have some coverage on electrical issues but we all know the dozens of things a dealer will attempt to make you pay for before declaring it an electrical issue. The good part is my extended warranty is for another 2 years/ 45k miles so if it blows up or goes insane I can have something to rely on. I'm not, I bought it from a reputable dealer with a clean history. Though that means nothing. The first owner didn't take care of the car very well though, that's why I got it like 8k under book value when I bought it. I've had to fix some things on it. The possible water damage crossed my mind at first, I looked over the car for some indications of it and didn't locate anything so hopefully not |
