2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS Police Car

As featured on homepage.

Check out this video of a 2010 Camaro police car being fully outfitted by Southwest Public Safety. For an unmarked look, police strobes have been fitted behind the front grill, at the top of the rear window and in the rear bumper. And a radar unit is incorporated into the A-pillar and its speed readout sits atop the rear view mirror.

This is an actual police car which will be use for active service in Zavala County, Texas.

Enjoy!

P.S. is there someone who can teach me to embed the video into the page? TNX =)

Honestly I'm disappointed with that car. Their lighting mods are too subtle and dim, especially from the front. I would probably not pull over for that car, especially not at night. The lights look like something anyone with a basic understanding of electrical work and some RadioShack parts could do.
Cool find though, wonder who the lucky cop is that gets to cruise around in that thing all day.

Jalopnik got it right, this car would be one scary mofo in the rearview.

Its an unmarked, what do you expect. Lights seemed bright enough to me. Almost had epileptic seizures watching it.

My tax dollars don't need to go toward HIDs or painted roof ditch moldings. Police cars should be both a functional means of catching violators of the law and a deterrent from trying to get away.

Probably an off duty cop car... I doubt it belongs to the department

I though the Charger was a mean looking cop car when that came out. But, the Camaro just plain looks NASTY!!!

Guys, I saw this car first hand at Southwest Public Safety here in San Antonio. The SWPS place is right off Nacogdoches road....in fact, my Sergeant told me about it and I ran in the next day with my boy to see how they were wiring it. They hadn't started yet. however, they did get a kick out of my Camaro and the LOUD exhaust.

I will say that I was told this is an actual POLICE CAR. This car is NOT for off duty. It is going to be put into service in Zavala county. Notice the radar unit installed in the upper left of the A pillar? The speed readout is directly above the rear view mirror. Yes, this car WILL be pulling people over.

How do ya like them apples!

Police cars get all too common these days. Everyone knows what a Crown vic or a charger looks like. Police Departments have gone to stealth cars to catch violators and guess what? The amount of citations written sky rockets when people don't know they are flying right past an officer. I mean....pretty crazy this could be true, right!

You tax dollars go to MANY things. To complain about one thing mentioning tax dollars?...please...

I could spend a few hours writing tickets that would cover the cost of 5 sets of halo's if I wanted. And I bet this guy could too. So, to complain...

I hope the interior rattles. Really bad.

=p

Personally it don't look believable to me either. Especially those super tacky lights on the back.

I think it's great that cops can have cars that not everyone recognizes right away. Makes it easier to catch some of these rude ass rich ladies in Lexus's around here. A nice light bar in the back window would have looked better than the license plate bracket lights though. Some people might not realize what is going on until they're up close and can see those are supposed to function as cop lights. Just give Tag a bag of money and see what he comes up with.

I think the lights are basically fine... However, I would have thought that they'd want some lights in, say, the upper corners of the front windshield. Unless I missed them... Seems to me that, if that cop comes right up behind you, you wouldn't necessarily see the lights flashing if your tail is high enough.

Ohhh no! you don't want rattles! Maybe the officer will be in a good mood as he has a nice ride..

Would he cut a fellow camaro enthusiast a break? maybe.. maybe not.

Would suck if he pulled you over to chat and compare mods...

In Louisville, KY, they had the Buick Grand Nationals, Mustangs and Camaros in the '80s. Now they have the Mustangs and Explorers. There is nothing more ubiquitous than an unmarked Explorer.
