"UPDATE" Callaway vs 2013 C6 427

Hey there, I own a 2011 Callaway with 607 whp and my dad has a 2013 corvette convertible that has a 427 with a cam and CAI that's just under 500 whp. This coming Friday, Vector motorsports is having there test and tune at Milan dragway. Neither one of us had ever raced on a track before. Both our cars are manuals and was wondering who's going to win. I have drag radials that are 305's and he has 335 michelins stock tires. It's going to be a blast regardless of who wins or loses but my dad likes to bust my chops about how big and fat my car is, lol. Which is true, but 607 whp remedies that. Just curious who you guys think will Take it and the times that we will get. The weather is supposed to be perfect and I just got my gopro and will be using it a lot. I'll post pics, vids and time slips ASAP. Thanks

I would lean towards you with the Callaway, though I bet it will be close. My wild ass guess is that both of you are low to mid 11's with a solid launch and decent driving.

Did you have any suspension work done on the Camaro? I am thinking that could be the difference if he pulls on you - just the launch.

You need a ringer to jump in and run your dad.

I just sent a message to Kelley at Vector to see if there were any spots open.

Probably going to be a drivers race. Your drag radials will have the advantage if the pressure is spot on. 12 to 15psi is good. Launch at a fairly high RPM and slip the clutch quickly. Track prep is important as well. It will be fun regardless. Just remember to have fun and breathe!

I have 1.4" lowering springs with sway bars.

That will make you car harder to launch as you are not going to get any weight transfer. The DR will help some.

No spots left so I won't be there. Let us know how you run.

Keep us posted. As I recall, your father's 427 was the same color as my best friends. Good luck.

Is your father going to be able to run without a rollbar?

Track results

Ok.. So as mentioned before, I went to the track with my dad my buddy and took the cars to Milan drag way, all I can say is that was a blast.!
First things first, I suck.. Lol. It was definitely a learning curve for sure but left knowing that I am a lot better llaunching my car then I was previous to that day. But launching your car is art form. And I already knew this but automatics on the track is where it's at. I ran numerous times and lost more then I won. But only had a couple of good launches. My best 60 ft time was 1.7 but almost all of them were 2.0-2.3 seconds. And that's the problem I was only trapping at 116 My best quarter was 12.07. Which Im disappointed with, I was really hoping to get the car in the mid 11's but no chance of that. And to answer the question of who was faster, it was me but not by a whole lot. He had stock tires and couldn't really hook up. There was a bunch of sweet cars and it was a perfect day. I could go on and on but the little things of that day. One thing I thought was funny is, the car stock from Callaway came with572 horses with a quarter-mile time of 11.9, I added about 150 hp to that number and couldn't break 12, I guess the mod that I should've got was the driver mod. But hers some pics and videos.
