First visit to the shop...

Our Camaro is in the shop for its first servicing today. Here's what's being done:
  1. Replace the driver's side door panel. The leather was scuffed on delivery. It took almost 2 months to "get a replacement from the line".
  2. Complaint of hesitation, bogging down, vibration at constant low RPMs (1000 - 1200). I suspect that this is the AFM and that they will say "no problem found"; however, I want it documented so maybe GM will get the message that L99 owners are not happy about the intrusive behavior of AFM.

Edit: The service rep called and they want to keep the car over night because they don't know what is causing this issue and they are waiting on a call back from GM. At least I didn't get the "it's normal" excuse (yet).

Edit 2: Everyone in their shop (service tech, transmission tech, etc.) agree that there is an issue, but they can't find anything wrong. GM didn't provide any help. They checked the suspension, drivetrain, etc. and everything is "tight". My service rep says that he hates to say it but maybe it will get worse such that something breaks that can be fixed or enough people complain about the same issue and GM issues a bulletin. They kind of got my hopes up but this is really what I expected to hear in the first place.

  3. Complaint of small "backfire" on initial startup and when revving. I also expect this to be "no problem found".

Edit 2: "Can't reproduce, no issue found" Pretty much what I expected.

  4. Complimentary first oil change. He looked at me like I was crazy for using it at 1,500 miles.

Maybe they'll surprise me and I'll have something to report back on the two "issues".

dude, there are plenty posts on here about the L99 issues. Just search. The dealer wont fix it but you can. Do the fuse pull. It "woke up" a lot of members L99s that were sluggish. I did my oil change at 1500 too, actually tuesday at 1431.

Please keep us up to date on what they say. I thought about taking it just to have it documented as well.

Thanks for the suggestion, but this isn't the "slows" issue that the fuse pull addresses. This is a noticable bogging down, hesitation and vibration that seems to be caused by the AFM on the L99. So far everyone has been told that it's "normal". It may be normal, but it's quite annoying. Maybe with enough complaints it will get addressed.

Have you tried the fuse pull? You may be surprised...

Definitely let us know what they find/don't find.

For those interested, I recall reading a post on the Pontiac G8 GT forum about an aftermarket fix to disconnect the AFM. You might find it doing a search.

Maybe some good news...

My service rep just called and asked if they can keep our car until tomorrow. He said that they could definately reproduce my hesitation/vibration issue and they don't know what's causing it. He said that they have a call into GM and are waiting to hear back.

They offered a rental car which we don't need and declined, but my wife read him the riot act and made him promise that the car will be locked inside the service department over night and that no one will be driving the car.

I've got my fingers crossed that something good will come of it.

You have a Good Wife. But if you look in the back lot, your car will be there.

My dealer has a spot right where you pull into the building where they park vetted waiting service. I've also seen a camaro there waiting. Some of them care

Our dealer is pretty good. We've used them since we bought our '95 Z-28 there and we bought our '07 Tahoe there too. They get a lot of service from us and we've not had any problems. Besides, it is raining this evening so if it comes back dirty, I'll know.

I haven't found a thread that tells how to do the "fuse pull" can anyone help with this? Is this something you can just do when you get the car- or do you wait until you have problems? Thanks in advance!
