Muffler delete or keep whats on there?

Hi Everybody, We are thinking about doing a muffler delete on our 2010 1LT LLT. We have a square type Flowmaster axle back on there now. We don't really like the way they sound. I went to a muffler shop and he told me $125 to do a delete on it. I don't want him to cut the ones off but he already said he won't unbolt them, That he will cut them off. It's a couple of clamps to loosen, I might go do that tomorrow morning. He said that it will sound "Ratty"? I want to do the SLP LoudMouth axle back, but that later. Does anybody have a stock exhaust with a muffler delete already and how do you like the sound?

What we have now.

Thank You
Philip

A muffler delete on a V6 sounds like shit.

From just anecdotal stuff on here, it seems like the 11386 Tru-X mufflers (what most people call a resonated X-pipe) (4" X 9 " oval-shaped, 2.5" in/out, 14" body length) is the one most people use on fifth-generation Camaros, but we have shorter-bodied 2.5" in/out, too, in the same muffler body size but only 11" long. And then we have 5" x 11" and 5" x 8" oval Tru-X mufflers, as well. You can find them all on our universal mufflers page; all the resonated Tru-X mufflers have asterisks next to the part numbers.

We are going to be selling out 94 Z28 soon and the money from that will be going to a full exhaust. Right now my wife calls it her wind-up Camaro. We already know that it will never sound like the V8 in the Z28. But it has got to have a better sound than what it does now.

The video Sanjay posted with the rear cats and resonators deleted is my car. I've heard a few v6s in my town and they have full catbacks and for some reason they dont sound as deep as mine and as loud. One friend has a muffler delete while everything else is stock and over 3000rpm it starts to get really high pitched with a metallic sound. Mine sounds deep through most rpms ranges The LFX has a beautiful sound, very exotic sound which I love, don't know about the LLT tho... Shouldn't be much off a difference... but I could be wrong Dont try to make it sound like a v8, thats where failure and disappointment comes in. Wish you the best of luck!

Luis, Yours sounds great!

There is one Camaro on YouTube that has the Trifecta Tune with headers. Annette really liked the ghost cam and she's not one that likes the way some cams make cars thump. But that will come when it's paid for in full.

This one is what Annette likes. The more I hear it, The more I'm liking it.

Thank You for that info. That means a different tune closer to home. I know one shop in Raleigh that does custom tunes on Chevy vehicles. Plus I use my cc so I don't get a ticket.

They figured out that our Z28 LT1 had blown head gaskets in 15 mins after see it the first time. Everybody else told me #3 cyl was bad. Go figure. After that they are the only shop that has touched that car's engine. But we can't drop off the IOM for a month until we get the engine harness for the Z28 redone. We had wood mice make a nest in the fuel injection harness this past winter. That car has not been on the road but 1.5 yrs in the 4 years that we have owned her. It's like it does NOT want me to drive it. I don't abuse her but I do drive her.

Here ya go. Cut the exhaust at the cat, deleted everything and placed in the resonated xpipe and straight pipe all the way back at 2.5"

We have to much money in her to abuse her. She will turn around with you in heartbeat. I want to keep it but it has been in the shop more than on the road. I can't have Annette walking when it runs like a witch for me and it dies on her. We have put 6, Yes 6, optisparks on it. All were under warranty but it was every 6 months that they were going out. The last time it made her walk was it. She went online and found the one she has now. She LOVES this Camaro more than she loves me!! The amount of money she saves in gas pays for half the payments. But she misses driving the Z28.

That sounds really good to me. That sounds better than some I have heard. Not saying that they sound bad at all. Just not the sound for us.

muffler delete with resonator and cats in place with the Magnflow X pipe will have a similar note to a car thats has a resonators cut out with the rear cats intacked. Here is my reciew on everything I did to my car..

#1 Magnflow resonated X pipe with muffler delete and everything else stock= Nice deep tone, but a little tame inside the car.

#2 Magnflow X pipe with resonator and muffler delete with rear cats intacked= Same tone, little louder in higher rpms and a bit more cabin noise as well

Finally,
#3 Rear Cats/Muffler/Resonator delete with maganflow resonated X pipe= 15 precents louder overall and deeper in lower and higher rpms and alot more cabin noise

Im 17 and wanted the louder car so #3 was perfect for me
