ZL1 Sway Bar Upgrade on 2010 SS
Like title says, I am looking for info to upgrade my 2010 SS to the ZL1 sway bars. Does anyone have a list of everything needed with part numbers? I have searched but I just can't find an answer to this . I know I will need the lower control arms for my 2010, bars (lost on finding the correct part #), & links. What about bar bushings and brackets??? Thanks in advance for any help, guys.

Thanks hammdo,
Did more research and came up with this: Rear Sway bar - 22786260 Rear links - 22761221 Lower Control Arms - 20942237 (2) Front Sway bar - 22842517 Front links - 22842515 & 22842516 Looking to order with my local dealer parts dept. as I usually get good prices with them. Can anyone confirm this is correct???

You'll have to get aftermarket front sway links due to them having a larger stud 12mm vs a 10mm on the upper link mount hole. DSE makes a set with a bushing that will work with the 10mm an also fit the 12mm struts (with the bushing)if you should upgrade to 1LE Struts.

Yeah, I had read that some people had drilled out the hole to a 12mm on the struts. I am also thinking of maybe just going with the Chevy suspension package #23123397 and ordering the lower control arms with it??? IDK...lol

drilling out the struts will work fine. get a brand new (sharp) 12mm bit, use a little oil and you'll have no problems. eBay can set you up if you can wait a month on shipping from China.
the 1LE pack is a good deal and gets you shocks/struts and toelinks. the 1LE bars were intended for a square tire setup. the ZL1 bars were intended for a staggered setup. maybe read a bit more on how the sway will affect your handling and think about how you want to use the car. aftermarket sway bars are also available to get what you want. what do you want? street driving with less roll? drag? road track? auto-X? |

street driving with less roll. and I have read that 2010-11 had the worst sway bar set up of all models.

The 1LE and rear ZL1 bars and the same.
The 1LE front is stiffer than the ZL1 front. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=335976 (2010 SS bars were the same size bars as the 2012's, only hollow/weaker) I just installed the JPSS bars, same size front bar as 1LE and way bigger rear. I was afraid that it was going to be too much bar. I haven't hit the track with them yet, but on the street, they don't feel too stiff at all. I'd get the stiffest for street corners. It'll make the biggest difference when changing lanes on high way. |

I did this upgrade to my 2010 SS. You can get the updated lower arms from any GM dealer. Part number 23484878.
I am running the PFADT sway bars that are adjustable. http://afepower.com/shop/application...=AC-440402001G

I think since I am very close to 60k miles I will just go with the 1LE upgrade package as the struts are probably needing to be changed anyway.

I installed a 1LE rear an left the stock front SS bar in place Pete said it would be better for turn ins. I have a front ZL1 bar an still thinking about installing using DSE links and 1LE struts.

Yeah, I read on a few threads where Pete had said that, but I figure if I am going to replace the struts at this mileage I might as well change it out too. I can always run a square tire setup on my next set, or swap the bar out if i'm not happy with it. I know some 1LE guys are running staggered tire sizes, and I don't track the car.

Ive been wanting the suspension upgrade since getting beat up by a V6 in the turns at Autoclub Speedway. I had him on the oval and straights, but he was killin me in the corners. Eventually i just gave him space and quit ****in with him. With a suspension upgrade, i wont have that problem anymore.
