Skip shift

How is this not bad for the car?
I feel like driving the car at such a low rpm would be bad for it. The cat obviously isn't happy at that rpm :/

The 1-4 shift? I can't stand it! When turning, the wheel blocks the indicator...and if I'm in traffic and can't continue to accelerate, the RPM's are way too low in 4th. And it scares me that they warn you can damage the tranny by going into 2nd! I hate it.

Alter your driving habits and you'll defeat it. This system has been in place since the 90s and hasn't broken cars yet.. Do some Google searching for F-Body and CAGS and you'll see tons of post over years explaining all the various ways to make it not happen without being required to tune it out (or use a !CAGS Harness)

Temperature, throttle percentage, RPMs, etc. Previously, there was a very cheap little resistor harness that you'd install between the lockout portion and it would stop the signal from reaching the trans, but still show the correct line resistance to the computer so it wouldn't throw codes. Don't know offhand if that's still an option.

I just drive through it. Give it a little more throttle and then you can shift.

I hate it. I buy a stick because I like to shift my own and I want to shift when I want, the way I want, and at whatever speed and rpm I want. One my first Vette I had a CAGS eliminator overnighted after the first couple of days and promptly drove the car over a ditch next to my sons driveway so I could get enough space to crawl under and plug it in. The next Vette I had one ready for the dealer to install at delivery. Will be the same if I decide to buy in here. I'm not driving around anything, the fix is way too easy and cheap not to immediately kick CAGS to the curb.

Seriously, just spend a 20 if you hate the thing and never look back.
