I bought my 2010 summit white SS at 20 as my first car. I drove a shared family car in high school that was way less exciting

1967 factory 327 4 speed was my first at the age of 18 in 1968. It was cream with a blk landau roof. I drove it for 11 years and 350K+ miles on three engines and two each trannies and rear ends. I LOVED that car!

I had a 2nd generation as my first car at 16. I think it was a '74 or '75. It was held together by bondo, and if I drove through puddles my feet got wet. Lol. Also... everyone made fun of my ONE barrel carb. Lmao.

The summer I turned 15, I was working construction for $4/hr cash, throwing hay on weekends, and bought my first car for the princely sum of $300 cash. In that time and place we didn't pay much attention to driver's licenses, minimum drinking ages, and not combining the two. It was a 1970 Ford LTD. That car slept 8 and had room for a mule in the trunk. I had a lot of fun in that car.
I saved up and bought a 1985 Berlinetta at 17. At 18, I joined the Army, and before I left for Basic I sold the LTD and the Berlinetta. During my first Christmas exodus, I treated myself and got my very first payment book. It came with a 1989 Iroc-Z. |

Wasn't my first car (that was a VW)' but bought my first Camaro, a '71, at 18. It was a home built, North Carolina special, never got out of primer, and ran like stink!
You're a lucky kid to have someone buying you a brand new car at 16. Hope you learn the value of $$.

My first car was a 1980 Ford Pinto my dad had. It was a four speed four banger and I did stupid things in it. I saved up and bought my 1967 Camaro base model (327 with power glide)when I was a senior in high school. Even though it isn't really fast and powerful, if it had been my first car I probably would have killed myself since I learned from my mistakes with the Pinto. I love my '67 and still have it today. It's part of the family along with my '86 Iroc and now my 2010 2SS/RS. Oh, and my daughters first car was a 1999 Camaro V-6.

I got my first car at 15 in 1975, it was a '71 Monte Carlo SS. A few of my older friends had Trans Ams and I was saving up for a Camaro. However, I ran across a great deal. A woman was in the process of getting a divorce and, unfortunately for her soon-to-be ex, the car was in both their names with the 'or' versus the 'and', which meant either could sell it without the other's signature or permission. Not sure (but have a guess) why they were getting divorced, but obviously she was pretty mad and sold the car for $1,800 (which I borrowed from my mom). The guy was pretty PO'd when he found out and called my mom trying to get the car back; not only did she sell it for a fraction of what the car was worth, the guy had put a lot of time and money into mods like a cam, 3-spring lifters, duel Holley Carbs, duel exhaust, just to mention a few.
My 2nd car at 21 was a '79 Camaro and have owned nothing but Chevys since, with a few being Camaros and Corvettes

Didn't really 'get' my car at 16 but I bought a used '13 LS a few months after I turned 16. Eventually sold it and upgraded to my current SS.

I got my car at 16 also, my dad and mom surprised me with it. We have never had a car with white lights, I saw 2 cars pull into my house. My parents said they were going to go to a doctor's appointment and didnt think much of it. I saw my moms Tahoe come in and behind it I saw some really bright white lights, this was around 10pm. I figured some one else was here so I went outside to check and I saw my camaro pull up into the garage. Bursted out in tears because I couldn't believe it.

I think Ive owned 7 or 8 cars in my lifetime, and while Ive had some nice vehicles along the way, Ive also driven alot of crap. Those of you who have 5th gens while you're in your teens should be very thankful. Its a damn nice machine.
