bought a new starter

My starter has been on its way out for quite a while now. This week has shown I better do something now or get stranded. Gets heat soaked very easily. Been progressively worse. Shorter and shorter run times for it to happen.

Not sure. MSD has a nice one but didnt want to spend $300 right now. Stock has lasted me 129k miles so I figured a new one for $120 would do me lol.

The stock starter is just fine. If you have headers, install a heat shield during the process to reduce heat soak and extend starter life.

Oh no doubt. Ive got over 100k miles on my car with headers and the stock starter did good enough for me.

Mine lasted over 5 years but only 46000 miles. Put in a new stock one.

Was thinking of trying the starter bypass on the power line in bypassing the terminal for jumps in the engine bay I read about it makes sense to me, poor conductivity.... its under another post here lately on starters brought up from zombies... hot starting issues shows it and its worked for some.... though with age yours is most likely due to get changed anyway BO. 7 years is a long time for a starter with headers............long long....

Glad I ran across this thread. I've got the old starter unbolted already and am just trying to find an angle to slip it out...was starting to worry that I'd have to unbolt my LT headers to get it out so I took a break and will go back to it this weekend. Sounds like I just need to keep playing with it. Got 90k miles out of the original, with half of those miles being next to LT headers so can't complain there.
