6th generation reliability question to prior 5th. Gen Camaro owners
Hi Guys,
I would like to know which has been your reliability experience by comparing your new 6th. generation Camaro VS your prior 5th. gen Camaro. Personally I'm very disappointed with the upgrading from my troble free 5th. gen Camaro ZL1 switching up to a C7 Corvette Stingray. Most of the time my Stingray expends its time at dealer's repair shop. I'm really tired of that the C7 Stingray, aren't dependable, I'm thinking of going back to Camaro. The 6th. gen Camaro shares the same powertrain with the C7 Stingrays. I wonder how it goes with you Guys, probably you have the same unreliability experience compared to the prior solid 5th gen bullet proof powertrain? Probably there was a change on quality manufacturing with the newer GM models. I

What problems specifically are you having with the C7?

Other than A8 shudder (NVH and potentially functional) and clutch-type LS shudder (NVH), the 6th gens are solid.

I'm not going to say 6th Gens are trash, they are wonderful cars..but they do have their hurdles.. some seem to experience alot more grief than others as well... Along with the A8 Shudder: There's some who have the rear end issue which can literally grenade without warning due to some improperly torqued bolts from the manufacture There's some like myself who randomly lose power steering and GM hasn't made an official TSB for the issue - my car has been out of commission for the entire month of July because of this and I still have no feedback as to what they're going to do (this has been escalated way up to GM and the BBB as well.) There are some who experience interior temperature sensor issues with the climate control of which causes the climate control to blow cold air when its freezing outside even with the dial set to maximum temperature. Some experience issues with the heated seats. There is also an issue where the car will shift very hard into first gear for no reason under light to moderate acceleration - this occurs randomly and there is a TSB & fix for it if the dealership is willing to take your word on the issue happening. In summary, if you're looking for something more reliable than a C7, I doubt you're going to find that in a 6th Gen.. Its by the same manufacture and same drive-train for the most part. |

So far no issues with my 6th Gen I am at 3600 miles owned it since April 2017. My 5th again was pretty much flawless if I recall 2 issues the trunk spoiler chip issue, and the strap on the drivers seat tore at 12k miles.

No issues with either my 2010 SS or 2013 zL1 vert and the only issue with the 2017 is it's at the dealer right now getting the headliner replaced due to the dreaded sag issue.

Had to have the torque converter replaced on my 2012 V6 A6 for shudder at 14k got rid of it at 26k, nothing was done to the 2014 1LE in the 29k I owned it and no issues yet on the 2018 ZL1 1LE but I only have 800miles on it, of course all 3 had some interior and exterior trim fitment and paint issues but it is just a "cheap Camaro" after all.

Aside from the *extremely rare* rear-end issue that has also been resolved long ago, none of these are reliability issues. They are quality issues. |

My 2016 2SS A8 compares badly with my 2013 2SS A6 as far as drivetrain goes.
So far the 2016 has been to the dealer for a replacement differential (4,500 miles), the torque converter shudder (12,000 miles), and a replacement left axle (23,000 miles). It also needed the the transmission oil cooler pipeline replaced under the recall. The 2013 had zero issues. |

I've been lucky. My 2010 SS left my hands with 33 k miles on it and I never took it to the dealership for anything other than a simple adjustment on the sunroof to eliminate a air leak. So far with 2 1/2 years and 17.5 K miles of ownership - my 2016 SS has been back for only one warranty check to inspect for a potential faulty oil pickup bolt but mine was fine - no repairs needed.
So, both of them were first year models and basically flawless. Like I said I've been lucky and may it continue.

I wasn't worried about my 2010 warranty running out, can't say the same about my 2016. Transmission getting worse and I don't have time to take it to the shop. Traveling all month and the a/c went out in my truck, so fingers crossed.

My 2018 SS M6 has approximately 10,000 miles, and I have had zero issues to date (mechanical or otherwise).
