Bronze trunion upgrade
Finished buying all the parts for my suspension. Starting to look into motor upgrades. Just want a good intake, head, exhaust and cam. Looked at a few vendors build lists and see bronze trunion upgrades. Local Speed shop discourages me from that upgrade. States not enough oil to properly lubricate and they fail easily. Any input on this upgrade? Thank you guys

I have Smith Bros trunnion bush kit fitted - was done 2 or 3 years back - no issues. Sleep easier than I would with a sump or timing case full of needle bearing fragments.

I have the cheapest ones you can buy in my car. Over 40k miles since I installed them.

I went with a Che kit haven’t installed them yet but heard they are one of the better bushings sets out there. An just like we talked about suspension in your other posts a lot depends on what you want to do with the car. An what are your power goals??

I dont feel that there will be any oiling issues if properly installed. The point of the upgrade is to reduce failures caused by spitting needle bearings.

CHE in mine for the last 3 years and no issues at all. When I am running hard she sees 7400rpm a lot. There are 2 kinds of bronze trunion upgrades out there, the CHE and the press in ones, not sure what brand they are, saw them on a Skoggin Dickey video about them, both offer superior function and longevity to your rockers, and ARE very well oiled while running, they both have oil groves machined into them for that. As stated, beats the crap out of all the needle bearing fragments in your oil pan and engine. Worth every penny for the added insurance in my book!!!
