Emergency Trunk release Solved! Maybe

My 12 SS Convertible was slow to start this morning, even though the battery is less than a year old. It finally started and ran fine, but I couldn’t open the trunk with the fob or the interior switch. I learned that there is an emergency trunk release on the driver side behind the rear seat cushion, just pull it back, there is a key lock, insert the key and turn, and the trunk opens.

However, the fob and switch still won’t open the trunk....

Yeah, it's a pain to get to and you really have to use some strength in turning the key. I pull my battery over the winter so the key is the only way to open my truck.
