Curb Rash-Repair Or Replace Rim?

I have a minor bit of curb rash on my front factory (non 1LE) rim.
About 1 inch long. Not deep.
Would a repair and paint hurt the integrity of the forged wheel? Or should I bite the bullet and get a new rim?
Anyone have experience getting their rim repaired? Did it look decent?
Damn Michigan pot holes!
Thanks,

I did the same once. I repaired my BMW M5 rear rim, hit a street curb drain. Then bought a new rim 3 months later. I could always see the repair and it stuck out to me like a sore thumb. Maybe the company that repaired thee rim didn't do a great job, but once i got the new rim. My stress was over!

I had curb rash repair done on 2 of my wheels several years ago and you still can’t see where the repairs were done. Find a reputable company or individual that has a high rating for alloy wheel repair by doing a web search in your area or talk to some car dealerships there about who they use.

I scraped my right front wheel two weeks after it was delivered. I touched it up with black spray paint and haven't thought about it since.

I have 2 complete sets of oem 20” wheels with SC3 tires on them. No curb rash on any of them. I’d sell a set if any of you guys need replacements. But I won’t break up a set.

Rim is $1000 new. I didn’t have any luck with a repair shop being able to match the gray powder coat. If it was black. It would be an easy repair.

Decided to take the plunge today. I ordered a new front rim from GM.
Ordered it online thru a local dealership.
About $750 after turning in the core.
Local rim repairs range $125-$150.
Along with a new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tire.
That is one expensive pot hole.
Thanks for all the feedback.

I've had decent luck with Detroit Wheel & Tire (sorry for the non-sponsor plug) refinishing some machine-face forged wheels on one of my previous vehicles. I'd give them a call and see what they can do.

If nothing else you'll have a "spare" if the pothole strikes again

The problem, to my understanding and with my experience, is the color match. It's a pretty common isssue.

Heck - you're still not guaranteed a good match with a new OEM wheel...

Try Weld Craft in Livonia. I am not 100% sure they fix curb rash - they definitely do not paint or coat wheels. I had a lease truck that hit a giant pot hole, causing a one inch dent in the rim along the seal. They straightened it out and made it look new. They do amazing work.
